Curves

Has anyone tried Curves? I went to one of my local ones and I wasn't too impressed by the equipment, or the little old ladies working out there. Any feedback would be good, or other gym recommendations.

I did curves for 2 years, I did see some results but not a whole lot.  It also got boring because u are always doing the same thing over and over.  I would recommend joining a gym where they have classes and u can do different things.

I actually love Curves...if your local Curves has Curves Smart, it will pay off more than a regular gym. What this is, they get you a tag you scan at each machine, and the machine knows what you are capable of, and pushes you to "go for green"...so if the light is orange, you aren't working hard enough. I know it pushes me to work out harder, plus, moving machine to machine keeps you from getting bored.

When youre done, theres a computer to scan your tag at, and mine always says I've worked every muscle in my body (wow!) and documents the calories burned...I usually do 500-600...not bad for 30 minutes!!!

Check them out again...it's worth it!

i did curves 2 months ago for 3 month. i did not liked it. for me it was not enough exercise. but i complement that with Taebo. Altho i did not like curves at all!! for me was very boring. but it work tho. i lost a few inches.
i don´t think its a good idea as a newbie. try just cardio for a few month. then you can try curves.
see ya around girlie.
hugs!!

I agree with most of the posts- Curves is good for someone just starting, or for people who have a long way to go, but really, it doesn't offer much to someone really getting in shape.

Let me give you some GOOD advice! :) So I did Curves for about a year 3 years ago, before my surgery and I had great success...in a month I lost 15lbs and a good amount of inches...here's the thing...it is ONLY for strenghting and toninig, it's not cardio, so of course your not going to drop the pounds quickly-unless you pair it with some serious dieting. For me, I did the Curves program, it's a month long thing that tracks your weight and puts together a diet for you.. it's basically 20g carbs each day (Atkins/Southbeach) and a Curves protein shake each day-which don't count towards the 20... simple. I worked out 5 days a week and 15lbs off by the end of that first month! I just rejoined and quit the gym. I HATE working out so if you put me somewhere to determain on my own when I can leave and when I can stop on a machine, I will just think of excuses during the whole workout and eventualy find one to suit me and leave! With curves, you are GUARANTEED at least 30 minutes each day and your going to loose inches and get toned... you can add cardio on your own if you wish. I have a treadmill I keep meaning to get on for another 30 min at night...but even so, Curves alone and a restricted diet will do you well, I am proof! Yes, it is a bunch of old ladies and a much different atmosphere but I can focus better on toning my muscles and not worry about the babes and boys at the gym and if my crack is sweating! :) With that said, if your a newbie, you want to be sure you are getting your toning in during your initial honeymoon...otherwise you fill suffer flab and skin issues and look back and wish you would have put in the time... at that point only $$$ plastic surgery can help a sister out! Hense my tummy tuck! Hope this helps!
