116.6 - I am going to change the frequency of my shots if this low trend continues while I am in Florida. We do live a bit differently there though so I want to wait and see what happens.

Yes, the smoke is not pleasant. DH has had a headache the last couple of days and I bet it is the smoke. I have this map up in one of my iPad windows: Smoke Forecast

Yesterday we went to the beach but didn't stay super long because of the haze. Dinner out last night with leftovers so we are all set for food tonight before we leave for Florida. Today we have miscellaneous errands to do and need to start figuring out what is going back. One way trip for everything except underwear.

121.3. Still low. Must have ice cream!

Worked another 2 plus hours in the church garden today. We delivered 194 lbs of fresh veggies to the food pantry today! The garden is so very bountiful this year! Lots of work but so good to be able to give fresh produce to those in need!

Not much else on today's agenda. DH went golfing, then we did a little grocery shopping. DS3 will come for dinner tomorrow since he has an appointment in town. A fav of his is mushroom risotto so I will make that with sauteed shrimp. I also made him a rhubarb crisp! It is fun to spoil them sometimes!

Tomorrow I will lead Bible study in the morning and then I'm not sure what else until he gets here, probably should hit the treadmill or walk outside if the air quality is better.

Safe travels back to FL Liz. Do you fly? Kind of weird that we are both on the low end for weight now. You have been in maintenance much longer than I have been but it seems like there is still quite a bit of trial and error in all of it!

I love that your food pantry has a lot of fresh produce. Seems like a lot of them focus more on food that is shelf stable like Mac and cheese or spaghetti and sauce.

We do fly. We keep one car in Florida and two up north. We are lucky that Breeze Airlines flies from Providence to Vero Beach directly which is super convenient. I had been flying for the 2 years before I met DH five years ago. I think we drove both ways one year and then decided to fly from then on.

They only have the fresh produce because we grow and harvest it! They may get some that is about to expire from local grocery stores but most of it is just as you say, shelf stable foods.

Makes sense to fly. We have an airline that does direct flights to Fort Myers, ***** Gorda and Sarasota from our little WI city!

Allegiant? I use to take them from Providence to ***** Gorda.

I had a nice gathering with my coworker/ friends yesterday. Outside of Christmas Eve , I haven't done much entertaining these last few years, even though I used to really enjoy it. Two things I needed to push through: 1. just about everyone I know is in a higher economic bracket. I know, I know, I know they are not judging my worn out carpet on the stairs, or my deck with 37 year old wood that is a little rough for wear, or my scratched builder grade sink in the bathroom, or the fact I don't even have a guest 1/2 bath or an ensuite bath, that they're using my actual bathroom etc. But it's hard to convince myself sometimes when my friends have such nice homes, and cars, and cabins... 2. It's okay if everything is not perfect. I forgot to wipe out the slider door track. Oh no!

I am proud to say I did not have any pre party melt down. This is how it's going to be going forward: As long as the shabby house is clean, I've put some effort into thinking about and preparing what my guests need/ want in terms of food and drink and I am hospitable, I am going to calm down and enjoy having friends over.

DH didn't work this morning, so we went for coffee. Before we left, we loaded up our car with some of nephew's things he's been storing at our house, and brought them over to his condo after coffee. One less trip he'll have to make.

His children left our house after a raucous morning for their summer day camps, and will be with their mother the next few days. I don't know if they'll be back for the weekend, or if they'll stay in the condo. BFF will continue to stay here off and on until October 1. It's so quiet for the moment. DH and I were going to go work out after we dropped off nephew's things, but decided to go home and savor the peace. We'll go this evening when the after work crowd has thinned.

The sky is mostly blue today. Hoping the smoke is dissipating in other places.

Thinking about the veggie bounty for the food shelves. Wonderful. I also think it's time for me to hit another farmer's market and buy ingredients for ratatouille.

I have the same issues of income bracket in Florida. In Massachusetts we are on par more or less with our friends. Some have more, some less, but not a broad spread. In Florida most of the people in our community have scads of money either via very high level jobs in their past, family money or both (though often it seems to be the latter). I know they don't care but sometimes our one car seems very small as does our condo. Even though we love it. I know they definitely don't care but...

Enjoy the peace! I look forward to times when we have company but we are always happy for the quiet after they leave.

After 3 days of work, the second planter bed is thoroughly de-weeded of encroaching grass and replanted with pretty flowers, mulched, watered and Deer Scrammed. Whew! I'm absolutely beat.

I'm going to jump in the shower then stare at the wall in my jammies with a sandwich in a minute, but wanted to share a comment with my midwestern friends here that I read on X that made me chuckle:

"Smoking half a pack of Canada on the daily is getting old..."

Supposedly it should clear more tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
