117.8 - back down a bit

Today we are skipping the Beach Club which is a good thing. I think DH baked too much time in his scheduling there. It was a nice day yesterday but I am not used to consecutive full days there.

This morning we are going on an airboat ride in the Everglades. Always a crowd favorite. Afterwards we will have lunch in the town north of us at a Tiki Bar. This afternoon we have scheduled time on the bocce courts to play with the kids. The granddaughter actually asked about doing it which was big because she is at that sourpuss teenage point. Older grandson who is a senior in high school seems to be past that. He and his mother had some fun giggling moments playing a board game together last night. Heartwarming

But first a Justice walk of course and I have to get our bed stowed away before that. Have a tingling Tuesday!

203.0 still heading back on down. I love that I no longer "diet" after a vacation, nor do I panic putting on a few pounds of fun, vacation weight. I'm not sure if it's years of counseling or the meds, or a combination, but I sure enjoy this newer attitude.

LIz, you may be right about me having a bit of SAD, too! I think it's a combination of adjusting to winter weather, coupled with retirement. Now that my busy dog show and vacation schedule are taking a breath, I am faced with free hours every day. There are tedious and laborious chores I should be tackling, but they are chores I do not want to do, so I continue to put them off and waste time on the computer! I am feeling like my inner procrastinator is trying to take charge. I am also wondering if my distractibility is also getting the better of me lately.

I am beginning to believe I am one of those adults that has successfully navigated life using my smarts to compensate for my distractibility. I also know that being/keeping tightly scheduled always worked to keep me on track. Without a work demand I feel less pressure to stay on track and find that I am forgetting to get things done. I am going to have to do something about that! Maybe I would not feel this way, if I had my house in order. My office space is a total disaster, as is the garage. Those two things loom over me. I feel shame about those two rooms, too! Well, enough of that!

On the positive side - I had a lovely workout yesterday, got some club business done, and spent 4.5 hours grooming BFF's dogs. So yesterday was indeed more productive than Sunday. I have wonderful dogs! And, unlike some of those close to me, I believe the best years are still ahead of me!

Here's to a totally terrific Tuesday! (Oh, Liz what you started in me!!!! LOL)

I'm having sort of an opposite reaction. Chores I dreaded before are something I'm enjoying, or at least gaining satisfaction from completing. I finally had time to dig into my office/dressing room/ auxilary guest room (hey, even the rooms in this house have to multitask) and it feels so good to sit in here now. I'm keeping things in general much more tidy and I find I don't resent the domestic chores like I did when free time was in such short supply. And also getting better sleep and exercising make dealing with things easier. That being said, it's hard to pop out of bed when it's dark and cold. I know I do everything slower in the winter season, and I have to be deliberate about scheduling things that bring joy or contentment, because they're not automatically part of the day like they are in the summer.

I wonder if being distractible is why my DH has to have a plan for every day? Because he can be sometimes too. Someone here (CC or maybe Paula?) had a plan to fill at least one bag with stuff to donate or throw per week from the areas that required cleanup. Maybe setting a time on working in those areas once a week would help in getting them straightened to your satisfaction?

Thanks for that suggestion! And maybe limit myself to an hour each session???? The office should only take one or two 'sessions', while the garage... well... that's a different story. My stuff, my dog stuff, Ron's stuff, all of Ron's teaching stuff!!!!!, my dad's stuff, ron's step mom's stuff.... it's all piled in our garage. That will take multiple sessions and a strong purging mentality.

I think I am getting to that point of having to have a set schedule for things around the house. It works really well for me with keeping the show dogs in trim. I have a very set routine for grooming each week. I'm also very good about getting to the gym for my workouts at around the same time each day. Seems that when things are a strong priority for me, I don't have much trouble getting them done. For a few weeks running I was doing vacuuming, dusting and general light housework on Thursdays. Last week I fell out of that because of vacation, and haven't dusted or vacuumed since we got back. I don't see myself doing it tomorrow, either... LOL

Speaking of not popping out of bed easily in the winter solstice days, I just got up from a nap. It is raining here, and after my workout I felt knackered as Aussie sister says, so I thought maybe a little nap would be good. All snuggled under the comforter with the sound of the rain hitting the window felt so lovely and cozy. I'm up now, enjoying a cup of tea and a biscotti. If we watch any shows tonight, definitely need a log in the fire.

Besides being cozy in the house, the sound of rain is welcome because it is not snow. The weather report I saw at noon said it will turn to snow around sundown, and we could get 3-5 inches. The longer it rains, the less snow that will fall. It was 46 when I went to the gym this morning. I think it's the last day for some time when I won't need gloves or a heavier coat. Weather guy said it will drop below freezing tonight, and won't rise above freezing for the foreseeable future. We had a very good run of fall weather. Time to hunker down. Yesterday i took all the fall/thanksgiving decorations off the porch in preparation for the switch over to Christmas ones. Apparently, just in time.

DS sent us a picture of his girlfriend and him on their bikes in front of Elvis' Palm Springs home. Pretty cool.

My Mom has been texting me about starting Hospice. I don't know if she will do it or not, but I feel like they could make whatever time she has left more comfortable. We'll see. I'm just focusing on how we will get her to Thanksgiving and back this week. But if she does want to explore Hospice, I am onboard with helping set that up.

So you can take a nap and still sleep at night? I envy people who can do that. DH takes a nap more days than not, then sleeps like a log at night. If I try to nap I either lie awake the whole time or I fall too deeply asleep and am in a fog when I wake up. In the latter situation I usually can't sleep that night.

Can't say I miss the cold weather. I am not looking forward to dealing with it for 13 days around Christmas. It is also darker as we have an extra hour of light in Florida in the winter.

Diane I've been meaning to ask, how is the tachycardia acting? It seems you've had two episodes recently? Not worrisome enough to go to the doctor, or are you following up?
