116.6 - I guess I don't have to worry about retaining weight from Thanksgiving.

Nice day yesterday with the sisters followed by leftovers for dinner. Also nice not to be going out to eat as we have been almost every night for the last few weeks. It gets old after a while but will continue for the most part until we leave for the north a week from today.

After DD mentioned the china she bought it made me wonder if my daughter will use the Lenox china which used to be my fine china on Christmas. She and her husband are having dinner for 14 on Christmas Day. I would guess that she might choose to use disposable stuff with that many people but we shall see.

This morning there is a brisk north wind - quite a change in the weather from a couple of days ago when it was hot, humid, and still. Hopefully the sun pokes out - the Weather Channel app says it will be cloudy all day, while Accuweather says intermittent clouds. It will be what it will be. For once we have no plans but I am not sure I want to be at the Beach Club on a blustery day.

Will do the Justice walk shortly and assess what the day is likely to bring. Have a tubular Tuesday!

How fun to have your daughter host Christmas dinner! I look forward to the day my kids take over the festivities.

A big storm is forming north of us, and hopefully will not slide any further south. We will get clipped by it, but maybe only an inch or two.

Yesterday more internet sleuthing, and it turns out the china we purchased is from 1903! The stamp is very specific to that year. Theodore is underlined, and it's stamped in red. China manufactured by Theodore Haviland during that era did not have pattern names, but somebody cataloged everything by giving it a Schleiger number. We're still not sure what number ours is. Searching Ebay and Etsy Haviland China for sale, we have not found it. This could become a down the rabbit hole topic.

Last night DH and I went to work out together at 8pm. Really nice, it is even quieter than in the morning. It was nice to wake up today and be able to putter about even more than normal.

I'm going to see if DH wants to go to a movie this afternoon before the possible snow arrives. I really want to see Hamnet. There are actually several movies I'm interested in after a drought of shows that interest old folks like me.

Yes it is great that DD is hosting but going up north to the cold is not thrilling me. She is excited though. I will have to find out what my assignment is - probably the round almond cookies I make every year. I believe DS is going to be doing most of the cooking that day at her house.

First DH and I took his Mom's china, it was a supermarket giveaway where you earned pieces based on what you bought. His Dad owned the grocery store so I bet it wasn't difficult to get the whole set. We donated it to Goodwill when we sold our home that had a custom built china hutch. We never did use the china.

I can't even remember the last movie I went to! Good idea! You and DH have great dates. Nice that you make spending time with each other a priority. My DH and I need to get back to that!

We didn't even realize that we picked a rewards day to go to the movies: tickets were $5 a piece, for the nice, heated recliners, and there was free popcorn! I can see Tuesday movies becoming part of the routine.

DH loves just about any kind of movie. I'm more fussy, so he will also go to the movies by himself nd see the ones I don't like such as horror or action adventure. He used to do that a lot when I was working. I've also gone by myself occasionally, and it's very freeing. You don't have to share the popcorn, can sit where you prefer, and don't have to wonder if they're having a good time. I think midweek matinees are prime time movie going for solo retirees. If you want to see Wicked 2, I would just do it : )

202.3, Oh, FFS! I am tired of my body hanging on to these few pounds. But I'm feeling good in my skin and that's worth more than a number on the scale.

Kathryn is worried about the mama dog, so we are going to have her checked out at the vet's at 1 pm today. I'm sure mama dog is fine, but she had eclampsia with her first litter, so better safe than sorry!

We saw Wicked, pt 2 last night. I enjoyed it very much. I found the plot thread lacking. I have read the book, seen the stage version and have intimate knowledge of the original book and 1939 movie so I could piece things together, as did Ron and BFF. However, if one doesn't have the background schema, I think the last part of the movie leaves gaping holes in the storyline. It is a visually stunning movie and the performances are wonderful, too.

Kick workout yesterday. Today is SUNNY, which makes it a FRABJOYOUS Day in my book!

CC turned me on to a new word game called Octordle. I am obsessed!

Wicked! That's the last movie I saw. Have not seen part 2 and probably won't since I went with DC1 and it isn't one DH would want to see!

Sorry those last pounds are being stubborn!

Hope mama dog is okay.

  • I think regular Wordle is challenging enough, not sure I would want to try Octordle! Eight letters instead of 5?

Octordle is 8 WORDS each containing 5 letters. Every guess applies to all 8 words. It's freakin' awesome!!!!!

Mama dog is okay. Her liver enzymes are a tad high, but that can happen with pregnancy and her calcium levels are high (but Kathryn has been overdosing her with calcium due to her history of eclampsia). It's all good in my opinion, but Kathryn is a worrier to the nth degree.

Hopefully Kathryn can stop feeling so anxious!
