Happy New Year!!!

118.2 - 2.4 pounds less than a year ago.

So sorry so many of you are sick on the new year! DH joined you as well. He is congested with a sore throat and a headache.

Yesterday was enjoyable with our friends, other than DH starting a cold or whatever it is. The grouper came out really good and we served it with grilled asparagus, zucchini, and a salad. So a healthy meal all around. Everyone other than me was in bed by 9, with me following at around 10.

Our friends leave sometime around 9-10 this morning to drive to the Florida Keys to their house rental for the month. One of their daughters is flying there today to stay with them for the weekend.

Hopefully it starts to warm up a bit today. Our only plans are a Justice walk, then I am cooking the turkey casserole I made and froze after Thanksgiving.

Have a newfound New Year Day!

Happy new year! Rain pretty good this morning. My water dog doesn't care for pottying in the rain. But he loves getting toweled off.

I took the nighttime flu medicine I picked up yesterday and slept really well. I figured it really just has a decongestant (hoped it would stop the throat drip) Tylenol for the fever and a sleep aid. I was in bed by 8. Woke up and took it again at about 2. And woke up with my normal 97.7 temp! Immune systems are wonderful things!

Now if only this wicked sore throat would leave, life would be great.

Raining here this morning. Normally I would take down the decorations today, but not sure I feel like it. Maybe tomorrow...

Getting ready to watch the Rose Parade on the KTLA app. They always have the best coverage that puts everyone else's to shame!

Tale care all!

Hoping for a pain free throat for you! Hopefully you will go quickly through this bout (the last time I got it it was only 3 days).

For what it's worth, I would leave the taking down of the decorations until later. Let your immune system do it's stuff by resting and only gentle activity.

120 even!

Feeling much better today! Yay! Sounds like CC is on the mend too!

Still on the chilly side here and while I'm feeling much better, I still plan to take it fairly easy today. So far breakfast is consumed and nails are half painted. Need to dry first two coats and then continue with last two!

New Years tradition for dinner tonight. Cornish hens with mashed potatoes and gravy! I loved having an entire chicken on my plate when I was a kid! Thought it was so cool!

Hope the Justice walk isn't too chilly Liz! Keep on resting up and getting better CC. When I got Covid so bad last January, my sore throat felt like I was swallowing shards of glass! No bueno! The body aches and fever sucked too!

Wishing you all a great start to 2026!

Good to hear that you are on the mend! It was cold walking this morning but not as much as yesterday. Should improve day by day.

I haven't had a Cornish hen in years. May have to resurrect a recipe for them.

When I was in grade school, I remember being served a Cornish Game Hen at our neighbor's house when they invited us over for dinner. I thought it was so, so fancy.

140.2 - same as last year and flat in the middle of 135 -145 range, and calling it good.

No big plans for today - DS#2 coming over later. He and DH in charge of dinner which, knowing Kurt, will be some sort of roast with the proverbial black eyed peas, etc. I managed to make eggnog yesterday and prep the traditional NY raisin filled cookie recipe. J&K will be in charge of rolling, assembling and baking if they want any with me perched on the spectator bleachers cheering them on.

CC, any chance you have access to that Michigan magical miracle medicine cure all - otherwise known as Vernors Ginger Ale!? Bubbles up the nose while the liquid slides down a sore throat in the most "burns like hell but feels so good- hit me again" sort of way. If not, a double shot of Fireball taken all at once might effect a similar outcome.

New Year's Day is the traditional day to take decorations down but the closest I will get is letting the batteries run all the way down on blinking lights- the day, when ever that is---maybe then I will start thinking about it.

Looking to - adopt this year a hopeful attitude of optimism, gratitude and grace towards self and others. In these fragile and fretful times an ample supply of freeGet ou of jail and advance to Go tickets might benefit one and all.
