Sounds like full days in Sedona!

When you mentioned the avoidance of sugar and bread and feeling mad when other people have them I realized how much easier it is right now to avoid that stuff. DH is staying away from it too so there isn't any in the house. Deceased DH never had a weight problem so would keep stuff around that I shouldn't have been eating and the same happened in the first few years with current DH. Hence the weight creep. So much easier when it isn't around to temp me and no one else is eating it.

I love how close you are to your Brazilian family. Maybe when you leave you will be saying "See you next year!"?

Also love the apartment video tour on FB. Wonderful little place with everything you need (perhaps book it now for next year???).

191.2 Goodness, avoiding sugar and bread and taking tirzepatide is a good combo. The refined carbs (and their easy consumption and calories) were killing me diet-wise and keeping my weight and appetite up. The sad part is I love those, but as the days go on, it's getting easier to not feel mad about not eating them when other people are having them.

I had an HOA day from hell yesterday. 4 separate conversations about a fellow board member who is walking 4 of their large dogs off leash. They are all exceptionally well trained search and rescue dogs on e-collars, but the rule is "on a leash" and two separate homeowners aren't happy about it. They are usually heading out of the neighborhood to the trails, so they aren't walking in here for long, but a rule is a rule.

One of the people I talked to stopped by the house to talk to me about the dogs. She was nice about it. And the best part, at the end she abruptly changed the subject and said, "you look really good!" and started talking about how she needs to lose weight. So the weight loss is now starting to show.

It's raining today. Woohoo! Not hard, but I'll take what I can get. Yesterday we didn't do much beyond walking the dog, but it was beautiful and included some sitting in the sun. We tried to watch Unfamiliar on Netflix, but between the awkwardness of the voices dubbing it and the fact that the subtitle script didn't at all match what they were saying, we gave up. It was slow and hard to follow too, so kiss of death. Oh, we also watched a lot of Olympics. Given Claudia was from Vail and worked for the Vail Co. for nearly 40 years, she knows a lot of the Colorado kids skiing in the events and worked with some of their parents. And she's good at explaining events and stuff to us as we are not skiers.

Tonight we are heading to dinner with the family friends who moved here from MI. We're trying out a new bbq place and seeing their new house (and visiting the rugs, lamps, and furniture in their new home).

So that's the news from Sedona!

Nice to see you Miss 150! Hibernation time definitely stifles ambition. That's why I like warm South Florida.

Good morning from Porto Alegre! We don't have any specific plans for today. It was nice to wake up in our quiet little apartment. Our room at the beach was across from the breakfast room, so there was a certain amount of noise every morning.

Carnival is starting up. Carnival is celebrated differently, depending upon the community. We've all seen the Rio celebrations. At our beach, they said it was calmer and more family oriented, at the beach town next door it is a street party, and pretty wild. Here in Porto Alegre most of the action is in the night clubs. We are not interested in going to night clubs, and are probably too old to anyhow, so I don't know if we will see any Carnival action. Currently researching if there will be any Samba parades.

Tomorrow we are having lunch with another one of my Brazilian "brothers" and his wife. Back in the days I was a student living with his parents, he was already married with 2 children, but played a big brother role just the same. Another of the brothers who took us to the wine country is returning from Europe today, and wants to do another trip to a different town in the Serra Gaucha, maybe next week. I'm afraid these next 10 days will go too fast! We leave on February 23, returning to the US on the 24th. We're enjoying what each day brings.

They used to let people crawl around inside until the 1950s when they started to preserve it. Now you just look at it from below. The ladders you'd beed to get up there would keep me from crawling around inside!!

My peach tree started blooming yesterday. That's a late March thing.

140.6

Here again in a place I so enjoy.

It's been a truly hobbily-hoy beginning of the year so far, and I can't quite get into the flow of things...for example, although the trees are down (as of Wednesday) all the Christmas stuff is still sitting in the dining room waiting to be boxed and stored....jeeps, it's Valentine's Day tomorrow and the snowman china remains in the kitchen cabinets. What's with that?

SEKansas is in the midst of delightful faux spring weather which helps motivate me to be done with hibernation a bit...won't last and expecting some snowstorms into March which also won't last. Defiantly enjoying the hint of change.

Been very hit and miss keeping up with all the delightful activities happening here and will certainly check out previous posts.

119.2 - minus .2. I was just checking my weekly log - I am only .4 above where I was the day we left for the cruise.

Yesterday was also a one deer day viewing a young buck. We have our last walk this morning and we want to try and go a little earlier to hopefully ensure we have a last view of these sweet Key Deer. We have never stayed on this Key before so it has been a unique experience.

After that we did go to the beach and it was actually hot enough to get in the water. Appetizers at Happy Hour at our new favorite restaurant on the water for dinner. In bed watching a show by 8, and asleep around 9:30 so I think I mostly caught up on my missed sleep from the night before.

Today is a last afternoon in Key West followed by an early dinner meeting our friends on the way back. Will be getting back to a normal eating schedule this weekend.

Have a fabulous Friday!

I miss ***** Gorda! We thought about going through that area on Sunday on the way home from Captiva but it would add about 2 hours to our drive so we will go straight back across the state.

Sorry you still have the RV. I assumed it was sold by now. It does seem like the resale market for them is tough - we have friends who bought theirs used, then tried to sell it about 2 years later but it has been for sale for at least 18-24 months now.
