Barbie Doll in the house!!! You nailed it! Those shoes are epic. It seems like there are some perks to being home in the off season like special events at the club and golfing opportunities. Your DD and friends will have a blast when they visit.
Paula, I think we'll all look forward to your meal kit reviews. One of my friends used it for awhile, and got some recipe ideas that are still in rotation even after she stopped using the service. Another friend uses it when they go camping in their RV. She says it's so easy, everything arrives on dry ice, she packs up the boxes in the RV, and doesn't worry about bringing tons of ingredients. They're all in the boxes.
Some gorgeous weather today. This evening we're meeting some friends to go to a food truck festival at their church. Food trucks and music on a nice summer evening. Should be fun. Tomorrow BFF, DH, a high school friend, and I are going out for dinner. Sadly, I think the smoke and humidity returns.
Today's task is to maybe buy some Hokas. I'm at least going to try some on and see what I think. I need something for extended walking in Scotland, and almost everyone I talk to loves these shoes. I do remember Liz that they didn't suit you, so I'll pay attention to what I think about the super thick sole. The other thing that gives me pause is some reviews said they weren't real good on wet surfaces. Scotland = rain.
I'm not sleeping well again. It's disappointing, because usually regular exercise helps a lot. The part of my brain that perseverates on worries got revved up by my nephew's situation I think. Needs to calm down or have a reset. In truth, there is a lot to worry about though nothing I can really do besides what I'm doing.
I tried a new recipe last night, the 1905 salad from the Columbia Restaurant in Tampa. They also have one in Celebration, near Disney, which is where we had the salad. The ingredients are actually pretty basic: iceberg lettuce, ham, Swiss cheese, tomato and green olives. The dressing is what makes it special. I followed the recipe exactly, and the house smells like garlic this morning! 4 cloves in the dressing. I may use a little less the next time I make it.
Time to get going here after my slow roll into the day!

I can't believe that DH and Justice depart tomorrow and the girls arrive. This week went by so fast!
Last night's Barbie party was fun. Not a ton of ladies but I think that is because a lot are traveling right now and they had a "pink-themed" event two months ago (called a Flamingle). But we did enjoy it though the appetizers weren't really hardy enough to call a meal. I ate a piece of leftover pizza when I got home. Picture below of my outfit. I had LOTS of hairspray in - that was a pain to comb out.
Today I will do water aerobics, then I'm not sure what. I do need to do a bit of bathroom spiffing prior to the girls arrival so maybe that. DH is golfing at a golf course in a different location today - the clubs here have reciprocal privileges in the summer. Tonight dinner is either at the Beach Club with a neighbor or at a restaurant in town on the ocean that we like.
But first a Justice walk! Have a winsome Wednesday!

I think DH needs to have a plan for each day because of that same inner dialogue. Mine calmed down substantially after a while, but his is still fairly active 7 years post-retirement. He was even worried about the agenda for my DD and her friends even though he is not going to be here. And lately we will be walking and all of a sudden he will say something like "let's leave early and go to lunch at". I will look blankly at him because the place he mentions is nowhere near where we are which is because he is planning some day a month or two from now when we will be in the vicinity of the restaurant he is talking about.

As I was reading your post, I was thinking exactly what you said just before the end: "How did I find time to work?" You sound like my MIL did when she retired - she just didn't have time to go to work anymore.

I have never done one of those food services but I feel like I should try one, maybe I will look into Hello Fresh.

I agree that those huge stores are a royal pain if you just need a couple of things. It seems like most stores are like that now since super size grocery stores seem to be everywhere in addition to the Targets and the Walmarts.

If I use hot rollers my hair looks curly for about an hour then it goes straight.

I can't believe how the day flies by! I am consciously trying to slow down though, to be more mindful and less driven to complete tasks quickly. It's not that I was some kind of dynamo, but it feels like I always had a stop watch ticking in my head no matter what I was doing. Hurry , hurry, get your earbuds hooked up to bluetooth, open the app for Planet Fitness, let's go, argh this app is slow... I'm trying to stop that constant inner dialogue, and I'm having some success :)
The club started doing these once a month last summer and they have been a big hit. They don't do them the rest of the year because there are too many people... As I initially read this I was thinking you were on Cape Cod, not in Florida, and got all confused about too many people during the rest of the year. Then it hit me... DUH.....
As for all you ladies with fine hair, be grateful you have hair! If I hadn't had medical intervention I would be bald as a billiard ball!
Sorry Scrabble was no bueno today, but at least fun was had!
Congratulations on your house reclaimed, DD! Sheer bliss!
Enjoy ladies day, Paula.
203.2 again today.
Another gloriously busy day of retirement on the first day of school! I had a Dr. appointment just before 9 am, refilled prescriptions because I was right there and it made sense even though I only NEEDED one of them, and tried to get lab work done, but it was not in the cards today - too busy. I will go tomorrow morning early. One of the tests (Testosterone) needs to be done between 8 and 9 am anyhow, so I will be able to get them ALL done with one ***** Who knew that a hormone test could be time of day dependent!?!?! After the doctor I headed off to the Ford dealership to get the Transit's oil changed and all systems checked prior to leaving for Reno and Minnesota this week. Came home to eat, do a few tasks, and then it was off to the post office, optometrist, and the gym. Now I need to put Buster on the table. Later we will go to the CA Fish Grill for Taco Tuesday. Shrimp tacos for me. Yum!
Doctor visit confirmed I do not have a hernia, but rather an intense little muscle strain. Given that it is in the lower abdomen/pelvic region not too much I can do "rest" it. Instructions are to be "mindful of the injury when you are working out." I can live with that!
While it may sound like I had a busy day, it was wonderful to be doing all sorts of out and about things on this particular first day of school. How did I find time to work? It's no wonder I was often feeling pressed for time! LOL!
122.9. Ice cream is working. Have not had any yet today but plan to. Ben and Jerry's was on sale for 2.29, we bought 10 pints! Yikes!
Cloudy day but warm and humid. We went to the botanical gardens.
Hello Fresh enticed me to sign back up with them. $200 off and some new healthier and lower calorie recipes. Tonight we had Barramundi with chimichurri, roasted vegetables and couscous. It was quite good!
Tomorrow I'm having a pool day with my friend while our husbands golf and then we are all going to a fancy restaurant for dinner after we get cleaned up from the day adventures.
Yes Liz, please post a pic of you in Barbie pink!
Yay for having your house back DD and for not having to prepare to go back to school.
Sorry you lost all 3 games of Scrabble Diane. Enjoy leftover hamburgers!
