Your house is experiencing the wife affect! It's good to hear you are having the backyard fenced. Although Justice showed that coyote a thing or two, its probably best he not tangle with them in the future.
I hope your eventual weigh in brings good news for both you and Justice.
Yesterday's rain brought a cold front. It dropped into the high 50s yesterday after a string of 90 degree days. This morning is beautiful and sunny, but more like a perfect fall day than a mid July today. Too cold for the porch this morning.
It is blissfully quiet here this morning. Having an unexpected visit from Aussie sister and her DH was delightful, but I don't mind being alone right now. And BFFs son, my adopted nephew is right where he should be in his current crisis. He is the perfect guest, loading the dishwasher, leaves the bathroom in pristine condition, quiet as a mouse when he leaves for work at dawn. So I don't in any way resent his presence, but it does require more energy from DH and me.
I've drank all the tea, read the daily paper. My muscles aren't getting any stronger sitting here in my reading chair, so it's time to get going to Planet Fitness and get on with the rest of the day.
Still no weight though I found the scale. My plan is to fess up tomorrow morning after 2 days of regular eating. The fish and chips, High Tea, and travel food the last few days of the trip made me worried. I'm going to weigh Mr Justice too as the ruff around his neck seems to have increased in size. Apparently that's where his excess weight settles LOL.
Speaking of Justice, he had a couple of fun adventures yesterday. He was sleeping on the deck with me in the afternoon and suddenly woke up to another dog staring at us who Justice chased out of the yard. Turns out it was the next door neighbor's dog as she came over to apologize profusely. Very nice person and the dogs ended up sniffing each other enthusiastically with their tails wagging. The woman complemented the house and commented that it was looking really good lately. It really is! Will take a picture after the driveway gets redone.
The other excitement for Justice is that he also chased a coyote. Good thing they run fast and he gives up the chase relatively quickly. There are a lot of healthy coyotes around and they don't like confrontation at all. After the next few days that stuff will largely go away as we are having the back yard fenced in and they start today.
DS, DD, and DSIL are visiting this weekend arriving tomorrow. We are looking forward to it. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
Have a thrilling Thursday!

Sounds like an idyllic summer and you deserve a new, comfortable sectional! Nice that you will have a visitor!

I think your Dad will be fine with the move. Probably some part of him will realize that he is in memory care but it probably will be only a fleeting thought once in a while. Yes, when a dementia patient's body leaves this world it is almost always a relief because their actual self has already departed way before that. It is a sad last few months/years.
I get very worried about my Justice too when he isn't himself but usually I can wait it out a *****e hasn't had anything major though).

Boat rides! Does Kirby go. Sounds like fun. Enjoy your guest. Ds
Peps if your dad questions his new place you can truthfully tell him that this place has more and better services for him. Your dad is lucky to have you and bro who want the best for him. good job. Ds
Yesterday's busy took an unexpected turn. At 3:30pm my Aussie sister called and said they missed a connecting flight at the Minneapolis airport, and could they spend the night at our house? Yes, of course! Quick shuffle of current guests: nephew is in the guest bed in my office, BFF had the queen guest bed, but moved to the twin bed in DHs office, freeing the queen bed for sister and her DH. Suddenly my hotdish in the crockpot was hosting a dinner party for 6.
We brought them to the airport at 1pm, and then went to visit my parents, where the downstairs bedroom saga continues. A new adjustable bed for my Mom is ordered and will be delivered next week. Now the plan is to make the family room their bedroom. Okay. My brother and I agreed to meet on July 28 to move furniture and set up the new bed. My Dad has a huge trailer he used to use to bring his carvings to art shows. He's not doing that anymore, so he said we can move stuff to the trailer to store it. Basically, not throwing anything away or donating it, but hoarding it in a trailer. What a shame. There are things that could be used by someone else, but will now rot and be chewed up by mice, and my brother and I will have to throw it away some day. But perhaps the inside of the house will be less cluttered for awhile.
My parents were not too angry today, so not as heartbreaking as my last visit. But still exhausting. Tomorrow I will wake up to a fairly quiet house ( I think BFF will be home in the morning, but everyone else will be at work). I will go work out and FINALLY get to read the NYT paper. I hope. :)

After a hot/humid few days, the rain has arrived tonight fresh from Paula in Wisconsin. Love it! Should be beautiful and cool tomorrow. Yay.
Not much to report. Boat rides, power washing outdoor furniture, Kirby deer chases, cooking for my folks... I ordered a new sectional for my house here. I hate this one. So uncomfortable and sloppy looking! It wasn't inexpensive (Pottery Barn), but hasn't held up well over the last decade of only being used 4 months of the year. This new one is very comfortable. I have 8-12 weeks to teach Kirby no more couch time.
My friend Cathy from Sedona is coming to visit me here in September! Her husband is going to hike Mont Blanc so while he's off doing that, she'll come here.
That's all for me. Take care!
200.2 - Normal uptick.... No biggie. Ate well yesterday. Also, had a very good workout. I'm sure there is a little water retention going on.
Big news is that my dad will be moving to a new apartment at the end of the month. Yippee! The apartment that I had been waiting for in the memory care section of the assisted living became vacant this past week. Sad for the gentleman's family, I'm sure, but good news for me and my family. (I'm also going to venture that there was some relief in the hearts of the man's family.) I have been working along with my dad's belief that people have master keys to his place and come in and rifle through his belongings and reset his thermostat. For a while he was convinced people were "doing it" on his bed while he was out. Thank goodness he's let that one go! He also complains now about the "mile walk" to the dining room. His new apartment is no more than 20 feet from the dining room in the memory care unit and I have told him no one will have a master key to his place. (That's not true, but as long as he believes me, all is well.) He's ready to move and is looking forward to the new place. I have not mentioned that it's memory care. I think that will bother him, so while I am not being transparent about the real reason for the move, I figure this obstruction of the complete truth is for the greater good!
How is it that I am falling behind in my domestic duties in retirement???? Things seem to have come up this week that need immediate attention (namely my dad) and that throws me off my game. Today it was accompanying BFF on an urgent care vet visit. I was there for him, not the dog. He's a basket case when the dogs aren't quite right. A vet visit and $350 later confirmed what I told him over the phone - most likely a soft tissue injury to her neck from lunging on the leash yesterday. Ta Da!!!! But I do like that he is so devoted to the dogs, even though he becomes an emotional wreck when the dogs get sick. His dogs are his world. ...Anyhow, back on track... Perhaps I am expecting too much of myself? Not sure. Aye, yi yi!
Well, I guess I should get back on my broom stick and get a little more of my chore list done before the day is done.
