Debra Reilly

"I have not had surgery yet with Dr. Reilly, but am approved. She did just do a panniculectomy on my friend and did a good job. She is healing well. Dr. Reilly is also head of the burn unit at UNMC and works with burn patients. Even though reconstruction with burn patients is her speciality, she is very sympathetic to the bariatric patient and I am thankful for that."

Corrigan McBride

"I have seen Dr. McBride at the meetings, and had a consult yesterday, but she was ill. We saw her PA, Crista, but didn't get to see her. I was disappointed with that because I really wanted to talk to her. However, Crista did a great job of answering questions and was very supportive, and took a good deal of time with us. I know that is hard when you see patients one right after the other, but they really did take their time with Dave and I. Dr. McBride has a tough reputation, but also one of being gentle. I think you just have to do what the surgeon says. It is like any other relationship, both people have to be part to have a relationship. You can't expect your surgeon to do all the relationship, and you can't expect to carry the entire load of a relationship. We all play a part. I think Dr. McBride is a good choice. She has a lot of experience in surgery, and I get the idea she is thorough and concerned for her patients. Her staff is good. 3/21/04 Now that I am post op, I will say that Dr. McBride is a good surgeon. I have no leaks, and never did, I think she was thorough and complete in surgery and did what she needed to, to insure the best posible outcome. She did answer any questions we had, but we spent more time with residents and fellows than with her. However, in fairness to Dr. McBride, I think if I had requested to see her, or the students or fellows had no answers, they would have gone through proper channels to get the correct answer, and that is acceptible to me. All precautions were taken to not have any blood clots, and I have had none so far. I was thankful for their thoughtfulness and completeness of the process."

Mark Purviance

"Dr. Purviance was very kind to me. I didn't look forward to the appointment, but he showed more kindness to me in one and one half hours that I ever expected. He was pleased that I was prepared and thorough in my questions, and that I was making an effort to follow every detail of the program. He noticed everything, and had insight that I didn't even think of."
