I LOVE THESE!!!

Nov 14, 2008

I just got back from the grocery and couldn't wait to try them.  I have only had 4 of them so far, but I can see me weighing them all out and having 1oz  day.   They are almonds so they are great for us, but where they are dusted with cocoa they taste like a hershey bar with almonds only better!!!   If you can find them try them!!!  YUMMM

100 Pounds Down!!!

Sep 16, 2008

I am officially 100 pounds down!!!!  I am 4-1/2 months out of surgery.   I couldn't be more excited!!!  Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am not a tight size 28 anymore.    I am very blessed to have had this procedure and I am doing everything I can to stay on track, working out, eating right, vitamins, and fluids.

Sunday routines

Sep 07, 2008

I love Sundays!  Usually on Saturdays we go to the farmer's market, and begin what we need to do for the weekend (maybe start laundry or clean the house).  But, on Sundays we finish laundry and finish cleaning the house.   I also, take our findings from the farmers market and make most of our meals for the week.   It is nice to go to bed on Sunday night prepared for the week ahead.   Not having to worry about food and laundry is a weight off of my shoulders.   Oh, and I have quit my 2nd job, so I have my weekends back

I have been asked to post what I make each Sunday so here is today's

Pot of Chili- made with 96% lean beef, kidney beans, peppers, onions,
                      and tomatoes
Tuna Salad- tuna, 3 egg whites, 1 egg yolk, LF mayo, dill relish, mustard
divided up in 1/2 cup gladware ready for lunches
Pastaless Chicken Carbonara dish--- grilled chicken sliced thin, thinly
sliced onions, red, green, and purple peppers, chopped
spinach, chopped artichoke hearts, crushed tomatoes,
garlic, topped with 2 oz of shredded parm cheese and basil
I am going to roast a spaghetti squash to serve it with
Sausage Peppers & onions- I grilled chicken sausages with peppers,
onions, spinach and 1/2 cup of marinara sauce, put in pyrex
dish, topped with 1-1/2 oz of mozzarella
Pork roast- I got out my crockpot put in a plastic liner, put in an entire
pork loin roast, carrots peeled and trimmed, and 1 can of
sauerkraut, salt and peppered and put the lid on it.  placed it
in the fridge, one morning before work I will put it to cook for
                      8 hours
Protein ice cream- 3 cups of skim milk, 6 scoops of chocolate protein
powder, 2 TBSP of PB.  I mix all together in the blender and
then put it in the icecream maker.   Once ready I divide out in
1/2 cup gladware containers so they are ready for quick
                       grabbing throughout the week.
Shelly's Apple Walnut Crumb- Zach had a sweet tooth, so I made these

Catching up....

Sep 01, 2008

So much has happened in the past couple of weeks. I am now down a total of 90 pounds since my WLS (less than 4 months ago). I am continually having more WOW moments. Today I had to return a dress for a smaller size. I was never that girl, that needed a smaller size. I always had to exchange an item for a bigger size. I am wearing the dress tomorrow to work, I will post a picture.

8/20/08

Aug 20, 2008

It has been a tough week.  My direct boss passed away Monday night suddenly...she wasn't sick.    I feel so badly for her family, and our organization.   She will be missed!  It is also the first time I have not dealt with anything like this since my surgery.   The past 20 years I would have just eaten my feelings, it didn't matter if it was a sad day, a celebration, a frustrating day, I ate.  I treated and soothed myself with food.  I am aware of this, and being very mindful of my food intake.

Breakfast-1/2 cup of protein icecream (24)
Lunch -2 oz of turkey roll ups (turkey & mustard) (12)
Dinner- SB high protein cereal bar (10)
Snack-1/2 c. protein icecream (24)

Edited to add....I just biked around 4 miles with my Zach.  It is the first time I have rode more than 2 miles with him.   My body feels like Jello, but in a good way!   Tonight I am feeling the burn.

3 months out

Aug 05, 2008

Pre-op my goal was to be down 100 pounds in 6 months.   Well, I am 3 months out and 3/4-ths the way there.  I am so excited about the changes I am going through.  I am eating very healthy foods, keeping protein and fluids in the forefront, and walking 5 times a week.  Someday I think of how much I have left to lose as opposed to how much I have already lost.   76 pounds in 3 months is wonderful, and I am excited...but occasssionally I wonder if I will be able to lose it all this time.   If I lose it all, will I be able to maintain it.   I have decided that I can do it all!!!  I believe in me, and I am ready for the challenge.   My energy is still up and I feel great.   Oh, more great news....I went from a tight size 28 to a size 22!!! I was really excited about this :)

Losing weight finding ENERGY!!!

Jul 16, 2008

I do feel like I am energized!!!   I am able to do longer days and more in each day than I have been able to do in years!  I am eating 5-6 small meals a day, my protein ranges between 55-75.  So that is pretty good.  I am going better getting fluids in too, decaf ice tea sweetened with splenda is my savor many days!  I am doing good with my vitamins and exercise.  I started biking 4 days ago, and I don't love it yet, but I don't hate it.  I am bond and determined to love it, so I am going to keep it up!!!  I meet with my surgeon tomorrow hoping to be down 65 pounds :)

Time to update....

Jun 28, 2008

So what has been going on after week one???  The first four weeks were not difficult weeks for me.  I followed doctors orders, I was up and walking several times a day, eating by the clock and overall doing well.  Then after week 4 I hit a road bump... I developed a stricture, so I kept little to nothing down during week 5.   They went in with a scope to stretch it.   The opening at the bottom of my stomach was only 3mm, they stretched it to 10mm.   I was still nauseous every day for week 6, they went in to stretch it again.   This time it has shrunk back down to 8mm, and it was stretched out to 15mm.   The next day, I was no longer nauseous, I could swallow and keep things down again.   It was amazing that it worked the second time!   However, in a lot of ways I felt like I was starting over.   Lots of liquids and soups at first.   Then my doctor told me I need to start working toward real foods again.   So I am now back to real foods and getting stronger every day.   I just need to start my walking again.   The first four weeks I walked everyday, then when I was so sick I was not, and now I am hit or miss.   I need to make myself do it everyday.   Less than 2 months out and I am down 53 pounds, my clothes are looser and people are noticing my weightloss.   My husband did not have WLS, but he is already down 20 pounds too.   He is doing amazing, and he is so supportive of me!

One week out yesterday...

May 13, 2008

According to my scale I am down around 12 pounds.  I am having trouble as most do getting in all my protein and water, but I am getting close.  Typically around 55oz of water and around 60 grams of protein.   I should be getting between 75-95 grams of protein.   I think next Monday, when I am on pureeds this may be a little easier.

I am pushing myself to walk.  If I am nauseous I walk, if I am in pain I walk, if it is time for me to walk I walk.   My goal had been 3 ten minute sessions.  Today I upped it one and started my day walking a mile and it wore me out!!!   But I have more energy in the beginning of the day than the end...so I will be pushing myself to do this every morning.

Protein powders mixed in things besides my normal chocolate shakes make me want to gag.  I think I over did it too early trying to mix too much of it in everything.  But protein & water first!!!
