I am a mother of 2 girls - ages 5- Maycee and 9 Krystin. I have a wonderful husband - Mel. We have been married for 11 years. They are the reasons I had my surgery - I have always been a heavy girl. But in the past 10 years I really put on weight. When I got married in 1995 I was 230 Lbs. When I had surgery in 2005 I was 390. I can not blame my weight gain on pregnancies since when I was pregnant I would lose weight. My husband is great but being so big was putting a damper on our life. I want to get healthy for them so I can enjoy life not just be here.

I was a self pay patient since my insurance has an exclusion for any type of weight loss surgery. I am a lucky women - I have no co-morbidites.

On to a new life!!!!!

Alot has happened since surgery - DH had abcess of pancreas in May and stayed in Hospital until July 1 and came home on feeding tube - had all tubes and drains removed in August. Katrina hit New Orleans and inlaws stayed with us for three weeks. Needless to say my fills took a back sit and I finally was able to get a fill in Aug, lost 10 lbs, went in Sept gained 5 lbs, then in Oct lost one pound and got a good fill and had restriction and have lost a total of 12 pounds. Not sure if I am at sweet spot but getting close. Also DH had to be hospitalized in Nov - right before Thanksgiving for another bout of pancratitis - we got bad news - seems his pancreas is damaged and he will probably be in and out of the hospital for the rest of his life. We have come to terms with this but it was quite difficult.
