I have two birthdays: January 27, 1973 and October 23 2007. The first, obviously, was when I was born. The second date, was when my surgen saved my life. I was tipping the scales at 395 pounds the day before my surgery. I was on several meds for hypertension, was a borderline diabetic, had developed sleep apnea, and was becoming increasingly depressed. Everything that I used to enjoy (sports, hobbies, etc...) was taking a backseat to my condition. I was tired all the time and all I did was sleep (sort of) eat and sleep some more. I decided to take back my life.....
I researched my options and found my doctor Luis Reyes. After attending a seminar with my father I decided to undergo RNY. It was the best decision I have ever made. Six months later I was laying in a hospital bed recovering from my anesthesia. As of this post, I have lost 195 pounds in a little over nine months. I am, for all intents and purposes, a new man. I was off all meds (and one annoying CPAP machine) within six weeks of my surgery. My energy level is through the roof. I can enjoy life once again. Actually, I feel like a newborn. Life among "normal" sized people is different when viewed through the eyes of someone who has suffered with obesity his whole life. I must admit, this one is better!!
