Update: June 18, 2017-

I had a revision on April 18th...exactly 2 months from today!

my band was removed and replaced with the gastric sleeve. I've lost 30 lbs as of this morning, and I'm feeling well. I'm halfway to loss of the 60 lbs I put on.

Below is my story from almost 15 yrs ago!

I'm coming up on my 13 yr surger-versary on January 27th and I'm starting over. I lost over 130 lbs 13 yrs ago and after having difficulties I chose to have almost all of my saline removed from my band. Within the last 3 yrs I've put on over 60lbs back on!!

I have an appointment with my dr next Tuesday, December 29, 2015. It's a late Christmas present to myself.

I did respect my band when I got it and I reminded my support group members to do the same. After facilitating a bariatric support group for over 7 yrs I had to end it because I didn't feel I could "lead" the group any longer. I'm now 54 yrs old and I know it's going to be harder to take off just with the age alone.

My Success Story

A good friend and co-worker once said to me.....post surgery, that if the surgeon had rolled me in the operating room, put me to sleep, and did NOTHING.......I would have still lost over 130 lbs!

He said that because I had the mindset, the motivation, and the true belief that I could do this. I WAS READY!! I know many of us say or have said "Oh God if you can just make me small.....let me get there.....and I'll take care of staying there". Well I felt I was there. I went from a size 24 to a size 12! I shopped in stores I could never shop in before, I had a collarbone...I could cross my legs....drive my car without the steering wheel cutting into my stomach...and not feel humiliated every time I encountered on of those "white plastic resin chairs".

I had always wanted to be a motivational speaker and I had my first seminar with my dr and I was the guest speaker. I went on to get other jobs as a speaker that had nothing to do with wt loss. I was no longer afraid to stand in front of a room of 150 people and present sometimes some real tough stuff.

I had lost my first 100 lbs in the first 10 months following surgery. Then in the bariatric world it was called the "century club". I can also remember when I entered "ONEderland".....which meant you weighed 100 and whatever........it didn't matter, it could be 199.9 as long as it was UNDER 100 lbs. (what I wouldn't give right now to be in ONEderland!)

My Plan

As I said earlier, I have an appointment on Dec 29th which is next week. I'm going to have a fairly aggressive fill if my dr is willing to do it, and see where that takes me. I'm going to remember the things I did to be successful 13 yrs ago. I'm going to eat slowly, cutting up my food in advance, EAT SLOWLY....oh did I say that already?? I'm going to weigh myself weekly unless Doc says differently, and I'm going to post regularly on the site here. Pics to soon follow.......
