A New Mommy, with a lot of work ahead of her
Jan 03, 2007
After being nearly a week overdue, meconium in the amniotic fluid, fetal distress during labor, and finally an emergency c-section, my son was born on 11/24/2006 (the day after Thanksgiving).
He is currently asleep in his swing and is the picture of cuteness and serenity. However, as good of a baby he can often be, he's also got quite a temper when he's hungry (impatient lil' sucker), and seems to have his days/nights seriously mixed up! Aye yi yi!
So needless to say, Mom is exhausted all the time, and as a result has been back to her old (pre-op) habits of stress & binge eating. I think all together I gained about 50 lbs. Although 10 of that 50 was before I even knew I was pregnant. I went from 130 to close to 180. Originally I had dropped approx. 20 lbs. after coming home from the hospital, but I've since gained approx. 5 lbs. back due to the uncontrollable urge to stuff my face. My tool is inconsistent at best, sometimes it still works - but sometimes I feel as if I can eat the way I did before surgery. It has been over 2 years since surgery though, and I need to realize that now is when the tool isn't on auto-pilot anymore and I'm back to that good ol' fallible thing called "willpower". Plus, I think I'm also experiencing a teeny little bit of post-partum depression :(
It's not going to be easy, but I'm determined to not fail at this and to get at least more lbs. off. I would be ecstatic to get back down to 130. But I'll be happy with 140!
Over 2 years post-op & currently 35 weeks pregnant

I cannot say enough about how grateful I am that I had the gastric by-pass. And I'm even more thankful that I was able to have all the reconstructive surgery that I did!!! The changes in my body were drastic and have made my journey complete. Now I just need to worry about losing the pregnancy weight after the baby is born! :P
I don't really have a lot more to say right now, I actually just wanted to test out the new profile features that OH just released. So far I'm very impressed. OH is doing a great job to offer some great features and services to the members. In the two years I've been a member I've seen lots of improvements! Well, hopefully I will continue to use this venue to blog about life as not only a post-op WLS patient, but also as a new mommy - since I canceled the domain that I used to run my old WLS journal on. If I get a chance, I'll probably work on transferring some of those old journal entries over here.
Take care and good luck to anyone reading this!
