Hi there, I read your post today,I was thinking it just may be the salt that's in what we eat. I also have swelling in my feet and ankles sometimes. and I never in my life had swelling before. I have went back and forth to both primary doc and my surgeon and they don't seem to be worried about it. I kept going back until finally my primary doc gave me very low dosage of water pills. Believe me he did not want to. he was worried about my pouch and how it absorbs all the meds I was already on. anyhow he instucted me to only take it when needed. It has helped but it still swells when it wants to. I sit with both feet raised. and when I lay I but pillows under them. when I wake it appears to had disappeared but it soon comes right back during the day. that's sometimes. anyways, He also said I must realize that my body is playing catch up and is making a whole lot of changes. I must say it is annoying and it do upset me. but I guess if they aren't worried about it,then I should just learn to deal with it. Because I surly have told them both atlease on 5 different visits. Hope you are doing better than the beginning girlie, remember to take one day at a time. I eat peanuts also if not that I eat peanut butter to help me drink my 64oz of water. LOL anyhow you hang in there and I know we will win this battle and become great Losers. ~*~Hugs~*~

Chris - I had my surgery on 3/31. I too cannot eat meats. I think because they are too dry. I eat a lot of dried bean dishes, cheese, and crackers. I drink a lot of hot tea w/o caffeine, crystal light, and sugar free tang. I also drink Rocamojo, which is a coffee-substitute made of roasted soybeans. I mix it 1/2 with regular coffee. One cup of Rocamojo is 12 grams of protein. I can eat chili w/ meat because it is ground up so fine. Good luck. I know it is a struggle to get in all the protein especially when you can't eat meat. Don't push the meat though, there are a lot of other things like the dried beans. Wendy

Chris: I'm sorry I don't have much help to offer here. Just support. I'm still pre-op, but from what I've seen, everyone's experiences are so different. My son just had surgery on May 5, and he is tolerating "everything" well, but I suspect that may be his age (23) helping things. Maybe you should check with your doc about some of your eating issues, and see if they can offer any help. I've also heard that some people take a step back and go on just liquids for a few days to help the stomach get back to normal. Best wishes to you, and hang in there. Everyone says it keeps getting better.

Hi Chris, I,too, was terribly weak for the first 4 weeks after surgery. At the end of the 4th week, I took a trip and ended up walking about 5 miles a day, and drinking protein drinks. It helped me. I am no about 10 weeks out and still get tired, but I am a lot better than I was at 4 weeks! Good luck and keep on trucking!

Chris - It wasn't until my 5th week that I got my energy back. This is my 6th week and I finally feel like my old self. Hang in there.
