Ron, best wishes to you on your upcoming surgery. You asked about negatives on this procedure. Well, for me there were none. I had no problems with my surgery or recovery. I had an open rny in Oct 2001 and have already lost 200 lbs. I am not a young guy, I am 58 yrs old and diabetic, have high blood pressure and sleep apnea. I am now off all my meds for the diabetes, take only one tiny dose for high blood pressure and am completely off my cpap breathing machine for the sleep apnea. This surgery has made a wonderful change in my life. I feel like a kid again. I have so much energy that I can't believe it. Please click on my name and read my profile and find out how I have beat "OLD MAN DEATH" twice. I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery and a rapid weight loss!!!!!!!!! Let me tell you a secret!!!! But only if you promise not to tell any of the ladies on this message board. MEN LOSE FASTER THAN WOMEN!!!!!!! Our metabolism is just faster. The lbs just melt off of us. Now, don't you dare tell any ladies because we will never hear the end of it!!!!!

Well, I have a date. June 10. Excitement first, but the risks start gnawing in the back of your mind. Have to go through all the preflight tests now.
