Hi Amy, I had my surgery 10-6-03, 8 days ago. I was too terrified about tubes and things sticking out of my body. When I woke up in recovery I had no tubes except the foley cath but it didnt hurt, even when they took it out it didnt hurt. I did have a tube down my throat for the anestesiologist but it was put in after I was asleep and out before I woke. its not bad at all, I swear! Good Luck and God Bless

Amy, I am nervous too!! I am scheduled for 10-20-03....one week away...I agree with the other folks that you have to let God carry you through this and don't be afraid...If you think about all the wonderful people on this site, who have done terrific, and are praying for you and me, God is bound to be there for us!!!! Hello Amy - Congratulations on your appeal, approval and upcoming surgery date! WOW, what an exciting and well deserved day, for you. This is a second chance to LIVE life again and no words can express the freedom that comes with this surgery. I had WLS 9 months ago, 150lbs gone, 50 more to goal!! My humble advice? Walk as much as possible after surgery. As your body begins to heal make sure to get in your protein, even if it means plugging your nose and chugging back the protein drinks in baby [pouch] gulps. Vitamins need to be chopped, minced or crushed... whatever it takes to get them in daily, no exceptions, YOU are worth it. Also, let's not forget your new best(est) friend, water. It is SO important to get your minimum 64 oz in daily. One final thing, CELEBRATE all the special moments along the way, big or small. Too many people focus only on numbers, ie. pounds lost. There are so many "moments" to look forward to and embrace on this journey - don't let any of them slip by. Enjoy your new healthier life, you've more then earned it!! NOTHING tastes as good as thin feels!! ....Hugs and smiles : )

Amy, prayers to you as you go through your journey to the losing side. I'll be right there along with you, as we not only share the same name, but also the same surgery date! I have faith that we will both do beautifully, and that the Lord will be with us both that day. :-)

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.
