Hi Andrea, If I was you, I would march right over to your human resources representative and let them know that you are being harrassed. This is unacceptable behaviour and it sounds like discrimination (tell them that, they do not want a discrimination lawsuit!). Don't let someone like that get the best of you. You need to do what you need to do, what is best for you. I guess, in hindsight, your mistake, although done with good intentions, was to tell her what you were having done. We, as employee's do not have to reveal any details regarding time off, period, end of story. This is personal, private information. If you have the time, you should be able to take it, for ANY reason. Keep this in mind in the future (if you have follow up visits etc). I can't believe that this person would treat you this way. Like I said, I would take this to HR immediately, she should be severly repremanded for her treatment towards you as well as you protecting yourself. I was in the same boat not long ago and learned my rights as an employee. Another thing. Document every conversation that you have with this person. Be specific, times, dates and contents of your conversation. If something does happen to your job, you will have the documentation and have some kind of recourse and can show specific conversations, which I am sure that she won't have. Unfortunately, you have to really watch out for yourself, no-one else will. Please let us all know how you're doing. Good luck and may God Bless you with an uneventful surgery and recovery!
