Hi Guys! I'm as happy as a clam...... I've lost a total of 34 lbs since the surgery and 24 with WW before the surgery........ I'm feeling much better. I did get a infection in my wound but it took me a month and it's okay now. I'm very happy. I have stopped losing for awhile but as you will see in my updated picture my skin needs some time to catch up anyway....... I can eat normal food now and that is working okay so far........ havn't been eating very long though with normal foods. if you have any doubts... please know I am totally for the surgery and Dr. LaPort office is wonderful! Good Luck and God Bless Nancy I will send in my current pic..... by email.

Nancy, Congratulations on your success. Sorry about the death in your family - sounds like she lived a very long time, but I know it's still hard. I'm scheduled for Open RNY Oct. 31, and I was really glad to hear you say you did okay on the liquids, as I'm really starting to think about that part, but I know it will be worth it. God bless you and good luck for continued success.

Hi Folks! I'm sorry I am late at posting. I also am a caregiver for my aunt who just passed away. She was three weeks short of 102....... So I was distracted from keeping my postings up. It's been three weeks since my surgery. I've lost 27 1/2 lbs since the surgery. I'm feeling very well. I didn't have any problems on the liquid stage and I'm now entering my soft food stage and I didn't realize a scrambled egg could taste so good. ha. I'm losing steady and gaining strength.... Don't be afraid..it's a wonderful feeling and I get compliments constantly. Blessings to you all! Love Nancy

9/25/2000 Well folks my surgery took place one week today. The Doctor found a large amount of scar tissue from previous surgeries and a hernia.. WHO KNEW! ha. My surgery ended up to be 2 hours longer than normal.....so 3 1/2 -4 hours later..... I'm in recovery. Walked within four hours... I tried to focus on doing what they said, don't baby myself, and sleep after I do what they tell me to do. I was two days in ICC just to be causious.... I went home on day 4! *** STAR Patient! *** Feeling fairly good. Of course I have other health problems so it all counts. I can honestly say my knee's( which need to be replaced) hurt more after surgery than my stomach...ha. So far I lost 24 lbs. before I left and 10 lbs since the surgery of 1 week. I'm very excited. Will give you an update weekly for the first six weeks. Then....... once a month. God Bless......all who sent me their blessings and prayers. I KNOW that did it!

Greetings everyone! Sorry so late on posting the status of my mother (my angel) She is doing wonderfully and is in very good spirits. Her surgery took nearly 4hours due to the excess of adhesions and etc. from her previous gastric surgeries. She spend a day and a half in ICU but has been moved to the regular surgical floor which we are all happy about. I have to say, that even though this was a major surgery, my mother looked wonderful. Cheeks were colored and even her hair looked great! LOL With all going well she should be leaving the hospital on Friday September 22nd. Lets pray that all continues to go well as I am sure it will. Dr. Laport has been wonderful to her and to us, her family. He kept us well informed and even had his nurse call us from the OR to let us know that everything was fine, it was just taking a bit longer due to previous adhesions and not to worry as he would be down shortly to talk to us. I ask you.. HOW many times how you had a doctor do that?? ANyways... she is well, and is looking forward to being even more fabulous than she already is.. As of course... she is my mother, and deserves the best! Will keep you posted! Steve Garrett
