Hi Carrie, My daughters name is Cari Lynn so I took it as a sign that I should write to you. (I got goosebumps) I am going through a similar thing only mine is because of my insurance. I may have to put off having my surgery and go on a medically supervised diet/excersise program for a year and prove to the insurance comp that I can't do it on my own. See how I worded that? Pretty negative, huh? I guess thats from many years of diet failures. After while I expect to fail so about 4 yrs ago, I stopped trying. I am 52 and I really want the surgery. But I'm going to play their game and try the DSD and give it everything I've got. Now, you're a young 20 something so you have plenty of time. I can't tell you what to do but can I suggest you at least try the DSD like your surgeon wants? If not, either go back and beg him to help you or find a surgeon who will .
