Debbie, hang in there. I can promise you that it does get better. I too had an infection and an open wound. It took approximately 4 1/2 month for mine to completely close. I stay home approximately 4 weeks after the open wound surgery then went back to work and a normal life. I learned to clean/change my own wound with no problem. Please feel free to email me with any questions you have. Lynn Jones ([email protected])

Good morning, Debbie. WOW! What an honest post about missing being able to take in large amounts of food. I'm a week post op and missing that, too. Just yesterday my mom was eating a beautiful chef type salad and there I was with my diet jello. I was so jealous. I told her and we laughed about it. All I can tell you is to be sure you are eating plenty of protein, sipping water and walking. My doc says there should be no plateaus in weight loss if you are doing those 3 things. So there's my two cents. Have a good day

I had my surgery last Monday and was released 2 days ago. Some pain -- it is almost like my ribs are broken but livable. I wasn't expecting to gain weight in the hospital from the iv's, but they assured me it was normal. I've had a lot of mental and taste hunger the last two days. My stay at Bariatric Treatment Center was wonderful. The nurses were just fantastic. I haven't had a BM since the day before the surgery, so I'm expecting a call from my doctor. Kind-of-scary proposition. But no regrets.
