Hi Lenore from your angel! Well, the count down begins. I can't wait until you are on the other side with me. I know you are a bit nervous but remember what a piece of cake it was for me and let your possitive attitude lead the way!

I fully understand your desire for privacy in this matter. I made the same decision. I told only my immediate family (I also have 2 sons, but they are 17 & 21; old enough to understand) and an extremely select few (2) close friends. Everyone else is told that I had abdominal surgery. If they are rude enough to press for details, I tell them that I had adhesions and scar tissue from earlier surgeries (true) that were causing problems and had to be removed. It is not the whole truth, but I don't feel that I owe anyone an explanation about something this personal. In my opinion it is simply "none of their business". I am not ashamed of it and will ALWAYS discuss the surgery (very candidly too) with a person who is considering it themselves. It is the morbidly curious (rude) and gossipy people that I have no compunction about not telling the "whole truth". I think you should do what YOU feel comfortable with. You can always tell people later if you want to. On the other hand, if you tell them and the gossip gets out of hand - - you can't take it back. You need to be concentrating on yourself and your family right now - - not worrying about what "everybody else" thinks. Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck and God Bless you.
