I am sorry to hear you had a rough time in the hospital. I pray that you come home soon and that you have a speedy recovery. I also pray that you have much success and use your tool to the best of your abilities. The first two weeks will be rough, but I know you are up for the challange. God Bless.

Tove - hang in there. I had open RNY, gallbladder removal AND a hernia repair on 8/22 and returned to work exactly one month later. Yes, the pain is there but it gets better each day. Today, I feel great; back to my busy schedule; I've had no nausea/vomiting and have lost over 60 pounds (28 pounds before surgery). Be blessed.

It is such a blessing to hear that Tove might get sent home tomorrow. That would be so NICE... especially considering that she said that she has NOT been able to sleep in the hospital. Hopefully once she gets home she will be able to rest and keep up with herself. Between your surgery itself and them "pestering you" in the hospital you do get NO rest. God is so GOOD!!! Now the fun for Tove will begin!

Hi to everyone from Tove's sister......just to tell you I spoke to her again today. She sounded a bit better, said she got some better medicine for her pain. She might actually go home already tomorrow afternoon, if she will be able to drink the required amount of fluids!! FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!:-)) There had been no complications so far, let's hope&pray there will be none in future and that she's on her way to a new life and, hopefully, a speedy recovery!!! Hugs from Vivi....

I spoke with Tove this morning. She is in a regular room now on the surgical recovery floor and no longer in critical care. I have her room number and direct dial phone number. She is still having a lot of pain but doing better than she was yesterday. I am asking God to make her better one day at a time. It is really something when you have the open surgery and she also had that gallbladder taken out. I will call her again tomorrow to make sure she is doing even better still.

I spoke with Tove, although she has not left the Critical Care Unit yet. They are still trying to get her a bed. When she does leave she will be somewhere on the 4th floor of the hospital. At any rate, she is really having a lot of pain... She was saying that they have changed her pain medication several times because nothing is working. Even the anti-nausea medicine is not working... I think that is just an exhibit of the "strength" that she has. We did not talk long and I am not going to keep pestering her and she feels so bad. I don't think I will call her again until later on in the week when hopefully some of the "initial" pain has passed and she is feeling more like "people". I encouraged her as much as I could... I know she can make it on past this.... She said to me... "this surgery is 'no joke'".... Boy! Can I identify with that!

Hi to everyone....I'm Tove's little sister, Vivi. I can see Eleanore has already been updating you all so far and I'm SO greateful to her!!! It was also thanks to her that I actually finally got through to my sister today and SPOKE to her!!!! I was given the same 'runaround' when I called the hospital yesterday, as Eleanore experienced. I just could not believe how unhelpful they were. I appreciate they have a 'privacy act' but honestly when I'm calling as her closest relative all the way from Denmark and they still say they don't even have her on their computer!!! It wasn't until the 4th time I rang in a row and got very angry and frustrated with them that they finally tried to be a bit helpful!!!! Still, to no avail I'm sorry to say!!! They put me through to a phone line that just kept ringing and ringing until I had to give up. Needless to say I didn't sleep very well as a result and began to worry maybe the worst had happened to Tove and maybe they just wouldn't tell me the sad news over the phone!!!!! Still, THANK GOD that was not the case!! And as I mentioned, thanks to Eleanore (you're a TRUE angel!!) sending me an email with the room number I actually managed to get through today when I got home from work and ......yes!! I spoke to Tove!!! She was sitting in a chair, and as Eleanore has already informed you, she was expecting to be transferred to a surgical unit later today. She sounded alright apart from being in a lot of pain, which she said she hadn't expected!!! She will call me later when she has a direct number I can call and I will continue to update you all, as I'm sure Eleanore will too..... thank you everyone, although I don't know any of you, but I'm VERY touched that you all seem to care so much and for all your prayers for my sister. I hope this surgery will turn out to be that second chance in life she has so wished for.....and I hope the same for everyone else who is waiting for the operation.....good luck to you all and all the best wishes.....hugs from Vivi...

Wonderful News! When I called the hospital this morning I found out that she is leaving the Critical Care Unit already! She must be doing EXCEPTIONALLY well! I will call back later when she is on the surgical floor so that I may be able to talk to her!

Wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you and hoping you get out of ICU as soon as possible. I know you are a winner so hang in there. God didn't bring you this far to let you down. When you are feeling better and up to it please drop me a line or two and let me know. Love and Hugs Always wishing nothing but the best for you.

Well, Tove is in "critical care" because they did not have any beds in "ICU". She has to be there because of her breathing problems. I spoke with the nurse because you cannot talk to her directly. The nurse told me that she is doing just fine... as well as can be expected considering she just had major surgery. I asked the nurse to be sure and tell her that I called. I guess that I will not get to speak with her directly until she is out of the "critical care/ICU" unit which may be a couple of days. I will be calling daily though to make sure she is doing fine.
