Gail C and I went down to St.Petersburg, Fl today from Orlando to visit Sue at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. Sue had surgery Monday morning and today she seems to be doing really well. She was very perky and talkative and anxiously waiting for that first popsicle. We also visited 2 other bariatric patients who we have met thru the support group our surgeon, Dr. Michael Butler, holds every month. Palms has opened a small ward reserved just for bariatric patients. The rooms have space for a family member to stay over nite and there is a lounge with TV, literature, comfortable chairs and shower facilities. The same nurses work there all the time unless there are scheduling problems so they are all well versed in the process of caring for a recovering bariatric patient. Gail and I both had surgery at Palms, Gail last April and I last March. I had met Sue thru this site when she was researching and planning the surgery. We have kept in touch by email and phone and it was wonderful to finally meet her. She is also a nurse at Palms of Pasadena and knows all the ins and outs.I am anxiously waiting to see her again, and the other patients too, after they have lost weight and gotten healthier. It was great to be able to be there for others who are going thru the process that i started just six short months ago.
