Hi Gina- Good luck with your surgery! You asked on the message board what to bring to the hospital. I had Lap RNY on 07/01 and I didn't really bring much to the hospital with me, just a few search word books, a good novel, a prepaid phone card, and some toiletries. I had my surgery on Tuesday and was released on thursday..so I wasn't in for very long. Good Luck, I will be thinking good wishes for you! Jeanne

Hey There Gina ~ Wish I could help you with your question on what to bring to the hospital, but seeing as I am a pre-op-er, I haven't a clue. But I will tell you that I am keeping you in my prayers and thoughts for an uneventful surgery and a swift and painless recovery. I look forward to all your losing posts. Good luck. God's Blessings, Kathie

Gina, seems like you have gotten all the answers you needed on what to bring for your hospital stay. So I will not respond to that :-) The only advise I can give you is to make sure you mentally prepare for it before you go into surgery and make sure your Family is also. You'll find yourself asking "WHY!?" I think everyone does. Lord knows I sure did...lol I hated myself for having the surgery and hated eveyone for allowing me to have it done. Just something some of us go through. Good Luck to you and know you have a lot of Family here. Feel free to email with any questions you may have. God Bless ya Girl! Angel Hugs, Dee

Hi, Gina: Here is what I have packed in my bag, and my surgery's not til August 19th! :0) Toothbrush & toothpaste, travel size soap, shampoo & conditioner, anti-bacterial hand gel and hand lotion, lip balm (I hear that lip balm is almost the most important thing you can bring), an comfy outfit to go home in, a robe and slip-on slippers for walking, brush, cordless curling iron (my hair acts crazy sometimes), and I intend to take my alarm clock, which has a cd player and cd's, because I don't watch too much daytime tv. Oh yeah, and my incentive spirometer, which the hospital requires me to use at home and bring back with me when I'm admitted. And this may sound stupid, but don't forget your insurance card and id. Good luck, and God Bless!

Hi Gina, My suggestion to take to the hospital, is very loose clothing to wear home, comfy loose night shirt, and pants to do your walking in, and bottled water (the hospitals tastes funny). I also had someone bring me a toothbrush, and shampoo, etc. I was able to shower after my surgery (6 days in), and it helped bring up the mucous that was causing me to cough with major agony/pain. I would suggest flushable wet-wipes if you're having an open-RNY cause gross as it sounds, it was hard to do the paperwork like I used to be able to. Very sore to bend, etc. Your favorite pillow, and pillow case, so you have a piece of home with you, and a pad of paper and pen to write any question down you may have afterwards, and/or names of staff you might want to remember and send a note of thanks to later. Well I hope this info. helps some. God bless, and good luck! As you take your journey to the inner, and thinner you, remember: The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 For I am the LORD, you God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13 Don't tell GOD how big your storm is. Tell the storm how big your GOD is! Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 I have heard your prayers, I have seen your tears. Surely, I will heal you. 2 Kings 20:5 I’m hoping you have a successful surgery, a rapid recovery, and much success in your weight loss journey. Des’s Open RNY on 3/13/2002 Pre-op weight =316#’s, , current weight on 7/03 = 169#’s
