Well I finally got to talk to Barb today and she sounded absolutely WONDERFUL! They're going to already be sending her home tomorrow. I'm so thrilled for her. She wasn't wheeled into her own hospital room until 9:00 pm last night, so the whole process took a bit longer than expected due to some issues with her liver. They were able to do the procedure laproscopically, though, which she's thrilled about! She told me that the pain upon waking was more intense than she had anticipated, but she made it through and is doing okay now. Apparently they can't give you a lot right away in recovery because it can slow your breathing down. She had the swallow test and it wasn't too bad. Today she ate some mashed potatos and peas and drank some water. She reported that all of it tasted great! She's a little groggy but has no nausea and has been up walking. Tomorrow at this time she'll probably be at home!! YAY BARB!!

Barbara - I hope that everything is going well. I have surgery with Dr Nakeeb Thursday - maybe I'll run into you cruising the halls for one of 'the walks' that Deb insists on.

Angel reporting for duty! I spoke with Barb's husband, Karl earlier. Although Barb's surgery was scheduled for noon, the surgeon was not able to get to her until around 2:00 - 2:30 pm due to complications with the prior surgery. Soooo she's in surgery now and hopefully all is well. I'll update again when I know more. I had the pleasure of meeting Barb at our support group meeting and have been talking with her via email for several weeks now. This is one awesome lady, so please, everyone, keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Heidi
