I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.**Hugs**

My RNY lap surgery was on June 26, 2002 at the UW hospital. All went well for about a month. I then began to have trouble eating. On August first I began to have extreme pain. I went to the UW emergency ward and they were reluctant to give me pain medication although I was in extreme pain. After five hours and three shots of morphine they sent me home and told me to call my doctor's back-up (Dr. Oschlager left on vacation that day) in the morning. Since it was already 1:00 am I went home and waited for the morning with pain, but not unbearable after the morphine. In the morning I called Dr. Oschlager's scheduler, Nancy, and she had me come in immediately for an upper GI. The upper GI showed that absolutely nothing was passing through my stomach. I was admitted at that time. It was discovered that I had a hernia where the stomach attaches to the small intestine. On Tuesday, August 6 they went in again and did the open procedure to "fix" the problem. I missed over two months work and thought I would never get well. It's now four months since the second surgery and I'm feeling good. I've lost just over 80 pounds and would do it all again. -- Ellen Smith 06

Dear Ellen, Tomorrow is the day for a new beginning for you. I know you are nervous and excited at the same time. If we can survive all of the stuff for insurance, all the letters that have to be written, and all the appointments to go thru pre-op, the surgery should be easy after all that is said and done. It will be smooth sailing from here on out, for me to have the surgery in less than 2 weeks, and you in a few hours. It really does help to reach out and think positively. I have made myself an inspirational tape and I have been going thru books like 2 or 3 a week. Please keep us updated about your surgery, and feel free to email me if you need to talk. God Bless and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Mary Western Conway, SC Pre-op 284 BMI 43 Surgery Date 7/8/02
