"Twenty years fron now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -Mark Twain Best of luck for a speedy recovery- here's to a great adventure!

"I WISH YOU ENOUGH" I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you all the very best on your surgery, a speedy problem free recovery and a rapid weight loss. Remember this: the WAIT is worth the loss of WEIGHT!!! You can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about it's width and depth. BLESS YOU!!! BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE HAD AN OPEN RNY. IT WAS THE BEST DECISION WE EVER MADE I GUESS I BETTER SAY IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS!!! THE BEST ONE WAS GETTING MARRIED. THIS IS REALLY DOUG'S SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE. IF YOU READ HIS PROFILE, YOU WILL SEE WHY. GO TO "FIND PEERS" CLICK ON OUR STATE, CA THEN GO TO THE CITY OF LA MESA. WE ARE BOTH THERE. UPDATE AS OF DEC. 6: DOUG HAS NOW LOST 90 LBS!!! NANCY HAS LOST 77 LBS. !! WE ARE BOTH DOING THE HAPPY DANCE. NEW UPDATE: AS OF JAN. 25TH, DOUG HAS NOW LOST 133 AMAZING LBS AND NANCY HAS LOST 85. NEW NEW UPDATE, FEB 11, 2001: DOUG HAS NOW LOST 145 LBS!!! NANCY HAS LOST 90 LBS. TRIPLE HAPPY DANCING GOING ON HERE. NEW UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW, AM I PROUD OF DOUG!!! AS OF MAR 20TH, 2002 HE HAS LOST 170 LBS. ME? WELL, I AM ON ONE OF THOSE AWFUL PLATEAUS, BUT I HAVE MAINTAINED MY 90 LBS LOSS. I NOTICE A LOT OF INCHES GONE AND CAN WEAR A SMALLER SIZE, BUT THOSE LBS JUST HANG AROUND. UPDATE: AS OF APRIL 18, 2001 DOUG HAD NOW LOST 185 LBS!!! WOW, NEITHER ONE OF US CAN BELIEVE THIS!!!! HE IS GETTING SO SKINNY AND HE FEELS SO GREAT. I HAVE FINALLY LOST 5 MORE LBS, THE TOTAL IS NOW 95 LBS GONE FOREVER. GET READY FOR THE MIRACLE OF WLS!!! PLEASE DON'T GET DISCOURAGED DURING THE FIRST 4 MOS AFTER YOUR SURGERY. IT TOOK DOUG AND ME BOTH ABOUT 4 MOS TO GET BACK TO FEELING LIKE OURSELVES AGAIN. BUT IT WAS WORTH EVERY SECOND OF IT. WE WOULD DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. NEW UPDATE: AS OF MAY 15TH, 2002, DOUG HAS NOW JOINED THE DOUBLE CENTURY CLUB!!! HE HAS LOST 200 LBS SINCE HIS SURGERY IN OCT, 2001. YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ********************************************************************************************************************************************* WOW IS THIS MESSAGE GETTING LONG!!! NEW UPDATE: JULY 23, 2002, DOUG HAS NOW LOST 21O LBS AND NANCY HAS LOST 105. WE HAVE ABOUT 30 LBS EACH TO GO. FEELING BETTER EVERYDAY, MORE ENERGY THAT YOU WOULD BELIEVE. THIS SURGERY HAS BEEN A MIRACLE FOR US AND WE BOTH BELIEVE IT HAS SAVED OUR LIVES. WE LOVE THE REACTIONS WE GET FROM OUR FRIENDS THAT WE HAVEN'T SEEN FOR A WHILE. PEOPLE JUST WALK BY LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW US!!!! THEN WHEN WE SPEAK, THEY JUST ABOUT PASS OUT WITH SURPRISE!!!!! FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!!! ******************************************************************************************************** DOUG AND I BOTH HAVE DIABETES. WE WERE BOTH TAKING GLUCOPHAGE. I WAS TAKING 3 A DAY AND HE WAS TAKING TWO A DAY. WE WERE TAKING ANOTHER PILL TOO (I FORGET THE NAME OF IT!!) I WAS ALSO GIVING MYSELF 5 SHOTS OF INSULLIN A DAY. WE NOW TAKE: NOTHING!!!!!! WE BOTH HAD HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE TOO!!! NOW IT IS COMPLETELY UNDER CONTROL AND WE DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE ANY MEDS FOR IT. THIS SURGERY HAS BEEN A MIRACLE FOR BOTH OF US!!!!! DOUG ALSO HAD SLEEP APNEA AND WAS USING A C-PAP. HE CAN NOW SLEEP WITHOUT IT AND DOES NOT EVEN SNORE. WE BOTH HAD OUR SURGERY AT PACIFIC BARIATRIC IN SAN DIEGO, CA. WE BOTH HAVE THE HIGHEST RESPECT FOR DR. RUMSEY AND HIS STAFF. WE COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR BETTER TREATMENT BY THE CLINIC STAFF AND ALSO THE HOSPITAL STAFF. I HIGHLY RECOMMENT THEM TO ANYONE!!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND WE WISH YOU EVERY SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November 2001: Well, Doug has now lost 215 lbs and Nancy has lost 110. Doug is getting really skinny!!! He may be at goal. We both go to our surgeon for a check up on nov. 11 and we will find out if he thinks Doug is done!!! Nancy (me!) wants to lose about 30 more lbs. We have both decided NOT to have any more surgery such as a tummy tuck. Our lives are so rich now. We both feel wonderful and we do not miss all the food we thought we would. You can improvise and make wonderful meals. Our diet is pretty restricted compared to the diets we read about on AMOS. We do not eat bread, beef, pork, cereal and a lot of other things that others eat. We are going to talk to our dr and find out if we are being to restrictive. We will add more later.
