I have noticed that there are many view of what someone should eat after the surgery. My docotr has a nutritionist that guides you though. He doesn't want us to drink protien shakes. You need to follow what your doctor recommends but I know that many people from my area have had great success and they eat their protien, not drink it.

Dear Krista and all new Post Ops. I went through a terrible depression during my first 4-6 weeks. I had all these expectations that I was suppose to do. It was awful! I couldn't do the protein, couldn't walk etc. But I didn't care about losing. A friend came by who had the surgery years ago she gave me the best advise! Stop worrying about everything. If you can eat....Eat. If you can walk a little...Walk if you can't then don't and don't feel guilty. Everyone is different and we all go at a different pace. Most of myfirends I met on the site that had surgery at the same time as me lost more, walked more, did the protein but guess what. On Feb 5th, 2001 I weighed 315 lbs wore a size 26. Now 6 months later I weigh 220, wear a 14/16 and feel great! I eat and snack Drink a few sips of Pepsi when I want it and guess what no matter what I do or don't do the scale just keeps going down....NEVER UP! Amen. I am not trying to keep up with anyone, my body is doing its job still losing. I only weigh about t times a month. Its better that way for me and I am sure it will be for you. Just try to be positive. YOu are losing.......May God continue to Bless each one of you. Big Hugs((((((())))))))) Tere.

This is from me - not sure how I'm to post to my surgery page so hope this works. I had surgery Aug. 14 (Tuesday) and was discharged on Saturday (had that lovely 6+ hour drive home - lots of stops). As of today, I am doing I think pretty good. Still having muscle cramps, gas rumblings, et... Still taking pain pills do to pain -but only taking one at a time. Warm broth,etc.. goes down pretty good, but cool water and room temp causes discomfort in upper abdomen. I think sometimes it just feels like the liquids are sitting there. Am taking 1 oz protein supps 6 x a day. Will be only on liquids for atleast two more weeks. Hope to return to work (part-time) Tuesday after labor day. Any words of advice to to spped up recovery would be appreciated (like things to do to get rid of the "catches" when you stand up after lying/sitting for a while.). THANK YOU to all you sent their warmest wishes. I do not believe I'll get each one personally acknowledged, but to so appreciate your support. Keep me and the other members here in your prayers.

Angel Update. I feel very badly that I didn't get to go see Krista in the hospital, because of my own hospitalization at a different place. However, I spoke with Krista late last week and she sounded great. She hated the swallow test, don't we all. However, her husband was right by her side and she was looking forward to going home. I'm sure she'll post her own progress as soon as she can stand the computer. You did great Krista, welcome to the other side!!!
