Piotr Gorecki

"My first impression was, This man is very young, plus he is not the surgeon I've heard about. Dr. Gorecki gave me his card when I saw him the first time in the clinic and told me to see him in his private office. That was impressing because most doctors see patients with Medicaid in clinic only. After my second visit his OR Tech,(Gary), finally asked what type of insurance did I have. Then proceeded to tell me Medicaid was the best coverage to have with this type of surgery. No approvals were needed from them--it's all up to the surgeon's judgment regarding medical necessity. After time, My trust grew. Now Dr Gorecki could never be replaced. He emphasizes after care, support and follows closely. He is very thorough addressing the risks of surgery, and drew pictures describing the surgery. Gary was excellent and encouraged questions and calls questions no matter how small or unimportant they seem. Dr. Gorecki would get a twinkle in his eyes when you asked questions. Both his bedside manner and competence are great. I had a huge hiatal hernia he repaired laporascopicly before continuing to do the Open RNY.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Recently Dr. Gorecki moved his practice from East Meadow to Park Slope I have to travel more to the new location to see him. If he moved back to Poland I would find a way to see him there for follow-up. I hated the way he made me walk every two hours but it was for the best of my health care. Also I hated when he would come to loosen the congestion by cupping his hands and hitting me on the back.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dr Gorecki says my uncontrolled BP is not obesity related and he is now searching for a reason for the uncontrolled BP. I feel so blessed to have him as my surgeon, too bad he isn't my PCP. The concern is so evident. These are my experiences with Dr. Gorecki. I know and realize each patients impression may not be the same. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now that Dr. Gorecki has moved his practice it is much larger. It takes longer to get appointments as a new patient, and it is longer getting to see him as a follow up if you miss an appointment. He now has all potential patients to sign a binding contract for pre-op, post-op, and long term care. Also at his new location he has to see Medicaid patients in the obesity surgery clinic, but the clinic is much smaller and cleaner than the clinic at Nassau University. However, if you have other insurance you may be able to be seen in his private office at NY Methodist. "

"I feel comfortable enough to have plastic surgery at the hospital...since my last post about this hospital it has changed. I would not recommed going to this hospital for anything."
