band removed

Sep 23, 2011

because of the severe pain i was having when i eat,  and spending miserable moments heaving over the sink and only having foam come up.. my band was removed about 2 months ago.  I haven't lost much since it was removed, but at least i haven't gained any back either.

I do feel good.  much more energy then I used to have.  much better eating habits, keeping to whole grain,  measured amount of meats,  eating fruits and trying out a few new ones (by the way spag squash is such a good sub for noodles)  and now have started adding back fruits.   i drink too much coffee,   though at least all the rest of the day i drink water or green tea.   my favorite breakfast is a cut up fruit in yogurt... a little honey drizzled on top with sliced almonds.

I didn't think full gastric bypass was an option for me since i have a friend that had huge problems with it,  so if the weight comes back (which thankfully its not)  in the future may have to look into new surgery options if they become available through my insurance.   but for now im just going to get busy on the treadmill.  i think at this point thats all i need since my diet is under control.    today i am at 250 lbs.

something I am noticing

Oct 06, 2010

It seems like right around my monthly cycle, for about 10 days ish,  it seems like no matter what I try to get down ends up hurting, like maybe for some hormonal reason maybe my stomach swells or something around this time?  it doesn't matter how slow I eat, how small of bites I take, no matter what I am eating.  its the same sensation as when your band is too tight.  the rest of the month it seems to be ok.   this a trend that is ongoing every month.

Lap band stuff

Sep 24, 2010

well its been a year since I got the band. what a roller coaster.   ease of eating in the beginning with no pain. (no really it was and was hungry all the time)  to band tightenings, over tightenings, fluid taken back out.  throwing up from seemingly no reason i can find.  chew chew chew then chew some more.  sometimes I have wondered if it was all worth it.  it has been alot of pain.   even today I seem to have problems with it.  I know its not too tight but every couple weeks it acts like it is,  and then everything is fine and I can easily eat 2 cups of food if i let it.

but since i know there is no way to tighten it since I tried that and it hurts like crazy for 2 weeks before the Dr took it back out, I have opted to becoming alot more active.  try to eat healthy, but also not feel guilty if for instance its my sons bday and I want that peice of chocolate cake.  thats my take on life,  move your butt more so you can have that small peice of cake :)

I think if i had it all to do again, I would have went for the full gastric bypass. more pain at the start, but I think less pain later.  I don't think I will be able to keep this in for the rest of my life.  but maybe by becoming alot more active I won't have to keep it in.  we will see.
