Welcome to OH sweetie!!! You are going to love it here, it is a great place for WLS education, great support, and AWESOME friendships!!!! I live in Poway, and us San Diego OHers do a monthly lunch and you should join us. We love to have new people and yes you can come as a preop, I did my first time.
