I had battled my weight ever since I was a teenager. I have three children and wanted to be around to see them grow up and have families of their own. I had been having blood pressure problems for years off and on. I started to have more health concerns the older I got and realized that I had to do something or I wouldn't be around to see my grandchildren....I did a lot of research on the surgery before contacting a doctor. I then researched doctors and hospitals that my insurance would cover. I chose Dr. Wallace after meeting him and his team at the introdustory session.
I did everything my insurance company asked of me. When I thought I was finally done, they requested that I have two more tests. I did those and was approved within weeks. I was so excited! I called my doctor's office and set up my surgery date.
My surgery was on Aug 24, 2006 and I am now 2 months post-op. I feel great and am steadily losing the weight. My blood pressure has stabilized and my other health concerns are starting to improve.

I was told I need to update this, so here goes....I am almost 9 months post-op and feeling great. I have lost almost 90 pounds altogether. I am weighing in at about 163 give or take and almost to the top of my goal range. I am shooting for 140-145. At 130, my body fat would be 20% and at 155 it would be 25%. My doctor would like me to fall in that range. I would like to hit 140-145 and then go after a tummy tuck. I have been told that will take off another 5-10 pounds, so then I would be at about 20% body fat, give or take....I have had a few minor incidents, like eating too fast and getting sick, but nothing that I didn't cause myself! I have friends that are looking into surgery since I have had such a great experience! I would do it all over again, and highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it. I haven't felt this good in years! I am now wearing a size 8/10 jeans depending on the brand, and a 12/14 shirt depending on the cut. I welcome any comments or questions about my experiences.
