My 2 year surgiversary!!!

Feb 29, 2008

3-1-08:  Well, it's been almost a year since I've entered into my blog here, but today is my 2 year surgiversary and I'm in that refreshed state of mind.  The last 2 years of my life have been like a roller coaster of sorts.  Health-wise, I've gained a whole new life.  I've gone from 365 pounds all the way down to 185 pounds.  A size 50 waist down to 34.  A 4XL shirt down to large.  At the same time, my personal life has changed drastically as well.  I'm going through a divorce, don't get to see my son everyday and lost a great job last July.  As some of you know by my post yesterday, I finally got a new job that I start this coming Tuesday.  It's been a life-changing two years, to say the least.  I ran a 5K race last July 4th and I'm running the 10K version of that same race this year.  I'm also going to run a 10 MILE race in Philly down Broad Street in May.  I still have a hard time coming to grips with that.

All is Good!!!!!!!!

It's been a long time since I've posted anything on my profile page, so I figure why not now.  Anyway, I've maintained my weight loss and have upped my workouts in preperation for a 5K race I will run in on July 4th.  My goal isn't to see how high I place, but just to finish the race without stopping or walking.  I've already done it several times while training, so maybe I'm selling myself short as far as goals go.  But, hey, a little over a year ago, I had a BMI of 51 and the only 5K (3.1 miles) I'd travel was to the nearest buffetThe only real unfinished business I need to catch up on is looking into and getting serious about plastic surgery.  My only trouble spot that I can see is around the abdominal area, so I guess I'd be looking at a tummy tuck.  The amount of situps and stomach crunches I do every workout aren't going to waste, as I am proud to say I have close to rock-hard abs.  They just don't show outwardly because of the loose skin.  Anyway, hope everybody's doing great and I'll try to keep more current with my posts.

Very special day!!!

Jan 08, 2007

January 9, 2007 - Today is a very significant day in my journey towards a whole new me.  It was exactly one year ago today that I had my initial consultation with my surgeon, Dr. Marymor.  I remember it like it was yesterday.  I remember walking into the office with a ton of questions and a whole lot of uncertainties.  I remember Dr. Marymor going over all the risks, including the mortality rate.  Boy, what wake up call.  He was frank and to the point.  I was sold instantly.  My surgery was less than two months later.  At 365 pounds, I didn't have much of a choice.  We set a goal of 190 pounds and I am actually now 8 pounds under goal at 182.  Yes, I've lost one more pound (183) than I currently weigh.  How wild is that?
