Hi every one, I don’t want to bore anyone o I’ll make I short.
I was always heavy but never really minded it. That was until I was 23 years old on three different medications for high blood pressure. I went through the weight watchers programs for three years and lot a ton of weight for the first time in my life I weighed 165 lbs. and felt great. I then had my second son and put on forty pounds and no matter what I tried I could not loose this weight. Here I was 28 ears old weighing 248 lbs. still on meds and suffering from depression and stuck in a ob that I hated with all of my being. Then just when I though that I was going to feel the same for the rest of my life. I got an email at work from a friend that was going to go to a seminar and wanted me to go with her for support. This to me was just another endless road or so I thought. I went to Derby with my mother and my co-worker and meet Daniel and Dr. Floch. He was so supportive and answered all of my questions and explained to me that I could actually do something to help my self be healthy again with support. I took all of this info and went home and didn't think about it again for another 6 months. . My co-worker had decided that she did want this procedure and went and did all of the steps she had to do to see if the insurance would pay for it. It was weird for me. I didn't feel like I deserved to get this procedure done because it was my own fault that I was as heavy as I was.  But then I saw my self in a picture and couldn't believe haw big I had gotten. The next day I called Fairfield County Bariatrics and scheduled my first meeting with Dr. Floch. I went and got all of my tests done and waited 3 months to hear from the office that I had finally been approved by my insurance Anthem bcbs for both procedures. I then had o decide which one I wanted. The lap band or the gastric by-pass.
My co worker had already had the gastric and had lost a ton of weight she was already 7 months in and had lost 100 lbs. I didn't like how she was looking so I decided to go with the lap-band. On Feb. 6, 2007 I went in to get my band. I was scared to death.  Dr. Floch gave me hug and told me that he was going to take good care of me not to worry and he knocked me out. I woke up 6 hours later feeling sick fro the Anastasia and my left shoulder hurting like hell.  I meet my nurses and spoke with my doctor. They gave me something for the pain I was having on my shoulders and went straight into slumber land.
The next day was great for me I was taking my 1 oz of liquids and walking around with out any pain so I went home. I was not ready for the hunger pains I got two days after the band. Ooooh that was bad. I went an entire week like this.
I had to keep the gas x handy to cause my shoulder hurt like hell I could not move my left arm for about two weeks the doctor said it was air. I don't know.

Anyway I went on the two week diet at 248.
The day of my procedure 214.
One wk 210. First fill
2 wks 200
3 wks 198
4 wks 1 93
6 wks 195 got fill # 2.
For three months I stayed at 193 with no change but I had lost my insurance and had to wait till my new insurance kicked in.
I just got my 3rd fill10167 and I am at 190. I want to take my time because I don't want my skin to start flabbing. (Yeah right! like it's not going to happen anyway.)

I am so happy that I did decide to use this tool. It was the best thing I could have ever done.  I Iove my doctor and Daniel. They are great! I am still struggling with my diet because being Puerto Rican I love rice and with the band if I am not careful It can hurt. So I chew chew chew. I still take gas x to help me with the occasional gas pain on my shoulders. If I don't eat at the first sign of hunger I get the gas pain on my shoulder. I try to drink a lot of water but I can only force 36 oz of water a day I get sick if I do more.
