I come from a family of obese people. maybe that's why I have normal blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, no joint trouble- yet.  My mom had the Lap Band surgery done  October (05) She has done well despite other health problems keeping her from exercising.  I am 41 years old, I have been married 22 years.- My husband and I grew up together our families spending summers together. So we married  young.  We have a son - 20- and a daughter 14.  My husband has the super quick metabolism, always has.  you know the kind, can eat 3 pizzas, 2 big macs, and lose 6 lbs!  luckily for me my prayers were answered when both of my kids inherited that from him.  I have tried very hard to break the cycle of obesity- among other things- with my kids. They are aware of calories, fat, and eaty healthy, and balanced.  They know there are all different kinds of people in this world, and as long as you are healthy you don't need to be as thin as an Olsen Twin.  They are very good at choosing the right kinds of food, portions, and exercising.  I'm SO grateful.  I just wish  this options would have been available for me earlier in their lives.  I would have been a much better Mom.

UPDATE: So after jumping through the Insurance hoops, and Dr Hoops,  I was finally approved on 8/14/07, and had my surgery on 8/31/07, just a week and a half ago.  I have told everybody at work, after all its no secret that I'm fat, and I find I have a lot of support.  I also find that it helps others approach me and ask questions, and get information.  I don't mind, If I can help somebody, the better!  I have lost a total of 16lbs so far with 5 of those during the 48hr liquid only diet.  I know this is probably a lot of fluid, but I'm ok with that.  Recovery has not been as easy as I thought it would be.  It took a GOOD week before I started to feel normal again, and even then, I'm still feeling dizzy and lightheaded sometimes,a nd a little sore.  I have a complete hystorectomy coming up Nov2nd of this year, 2 surgies in 90 days! YIKES!!  So I'm trying not to think of the recovery of that one!  I'm just trying to focus on losing as much as I can by then, so the surgery goes as easily as possible.  My plan is to start on the sit down bike ( I know it's called something else, but I can't spell it right now! ) sometime this week during lunch. I found these great little Glad Wear bowls that hold a cup!  perfect!
