I've been fat forever. I looked into the eyes of one of my grandchildren one day and knew that if I wanted to have a chance at seeing him and his cousins grow and being able to play with them, I had to have this surgery, that I would have to get a tool to help me eat to live instead of living to eat. I've had to quit smoking. That same grandchild said "Mamaw, I KNOW you can do it." My husband has been so supportive, as has my family, physicians, employer, insurance company and others.
Wow, it's September 22, 2008 and I am seven days post-RNY surgery. I am doing great! I am so glad to be working toward achieving my weight loss goals. Somehow it doesn't seem real.
Six weeks out from RNY, and I LOVE my pouch, most of the time. I don't miss eating and i don't miss smoking, but I don't know sometimes what to do with myself when I'm looking for those lost vices!
Six months out from RNY, I've lost 103 pounds, and I feel great! I'm more active than I can ever remember. I no longer have sleep apnea or diabetes. I can run! I do water aerobics, floor exercises and walk on the treadmill 5 - 6 days a week. On the 7th day, I take a break, but usually find something active to do to compensate.
Eight months out from RNy and I've lost 120 pounds. I am in a size 16 headed toward 14 fast! Just spent two weeks in Hawaii and was able to kayak 2 1/2 miles to a waterfall. Spent some time everyday doing something physical. I am in excellent health and have had NO problems. I'm so thankful for this new me!
