Been way too long

Jun 17, 2011

So............................It has been a very long time since I posted anything. I celebrated by surgiversary on May 3rd and today is June 17.
I have still not met my weight goal but that is okay with me because apparently underneath all that fat was quite a bit of muscle. AND...to add to that,I have put some more muscle on while training for my very first TRIATHLON. It was in May and I completed it and loved every minute of it. I now have a new love and it is called CYCLING!!!!!
I was invited to participate in the cycling leg of the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in 2012 which I am going to start training for soon. AND....in October I am going to attempt to do a 100 mile ride fundraiser.
I feel great and am happier than ever.
I have not gotten physically ill yet. However, I have come dangerously close. Sugar-Free Chocolate is very hit or miss with my gut. Sometimes it is ok and sometimes it is BAD. Unfortunately, I think I am eating too much even though the numbers on the scale are not going up. Keeping up the protein is difficult without spending lots of money on bars/supplements/shake mixes.
Will post pictures soon!!

6 month post-op

Nov 04, 2010

WOO HOO! 0.2 pounds shy of losing 70 pounds. I have been completely compliant and have started exercising too. On Saturday I will walk in the Strong Legs Run (10K) with my partner Tami, my mom, and my brother.
I have not had any complications to speak of but did pass my very first kidny stone a week ago and HOLY CRAP did that hurt. I actually had to call an ambulance to come get me off the side of the road since I was on the way to work.
I started at a size 20-22 and am now a snug 8-10!!!

loooonnnnngggg PLATEAU

Jul 01, 2010

Gosh this is so frustrating. Yes I have lost almost 35 pounds since my surg (may 3) but I keep having issues with my weightloss stalling. My clothes are starting to fall off and I can wear things that I thought I would never wear again!
I am doing the 30 Day Shred everyday and it is kicking my butt. I will post some pics soon, as soon as I can get a charger for my camera.
I found some protein that I love, Syntrax Nectar. All flavors so far are excellent except Cappuccino. I cannot have coffee, even decaf because my pouch doesnt like it. Thats fine with me because caffeine is a horrible thing for the body anyway.
I am planning on doing a sprint triathalon next June and I am putting only high quality nutrition in this body now.

TTFM!

Breakfast follies

May 30, 2010

I have been having a hard time lately. Well, not really hard but frustrating. No problems just having a difficult time finding stuff to eat for breakfast. Any suggestions would be great. I eat eggs, eggs, eggs, and more eggs. Sometimes I will have plain yogurt with a tablespoon of Polaner All Fruit mixed in for yummyness. I am also having a hard time with getting fruits/veggies in because I get full on the protein. The No Sugar Added peaches that I ate in the pureed stage do not sit in my new tummy so I stopped eating them. I know that fruits and veggies are important. Any advice?

About me!

May 18, 2010

ABOUT ME........
Alrighty then. My name is Angie and I live in Georgia. I am 36 and wil be 37 in July. I love music, creative people, free thinkers, animals, tattoos, and blissful moments. I have a startling gorgeous (I think) partner whom I love more than anybody but my mother. I am finding that I am quite anti-corporation and I am totally and completely fascinated by the studies of Dr. Max Gerson http://www.gerson.org. If you find yourself interested too, check out the movie The Beautiful Truth. I watched it last night streaming from Netflix. I AM NOT A PROMOTER, I JUST REALLY ENJOY DOCUMENTARIES. It was quite possibly one of the most interesting and thought provoking films I have ever seen!

ABOUT MY WEIGHTLOSS JOURNEY.....
I have been overrweight most of my life but did not really become obese until after I graduated from high school in 1992. My weight just kept going up up up steadily over the years. I have heard that when you are in a relationship that makes you really happy that gaining weight is really easy and common. Well, in 2004 I met the love of my life and we both have put on alot of weight over the years. I think I was around 195 lbs in 2004 and now (as of April 28) I was 227 lbs. My heighest weight ever was 243.

It wasnt until 2010 that I EVER even thought of having weight loss surgery. I always told myself that I could do it by myself. I thought I was strong enough to do it myself. After trying and trying and trying some more, I realized that while I might be able to lose 30lbs myself, it NEVER stayed off.

After talking to a co-worker about her RNY surgery I started to think about it on and off from time to time. Then one day, I dont remember the circumstances, I went to a seminar and then a support group and I was hooked. I researched and read and read some more and well.......the rest is history.

I had my RNY on May 3 at Emory Johns Creek Hopsital and the surgery went perfect. The gas really sucked but I never had any pain except for the gas and only needed pain meds 2 times for the gas. NO PROBLEMS (so far). No problems with any foods yet. I have been following the nutritionists guidelines to a T. During the stage 2 pureed diet I did not ever really puree my foods but I pulsed them in a mini food processor til basically they were mush. I am able to swallow my 1 medication (very small pill) without much difficulty. Sometimes it feels like it gets stuck in my "thumbmach" (Thumb and Stomach combined) but it is only for a minute or two and then it is fine. I take Unjury protein, flintstones vitamins, and calcium daily. B12 once a week. The calcium supplement that I chose in the beginning turned out  tasting f-ing terrible after the surgery so I bought a liquid calcium (Bluebonnet) I think is the brand and it is not too bad if you can get over the texture of it.

I will start the soft food stage this Wednesday. I would love some suggestions for breakfast since it is my hardest meal to get creative with.

The thing that I have learned and that has hit me the most is FOOD RULED MY LIFE. It is sad to think about it. My partner and I have to think of "things" to do instead of going out to eat all the time. When I get some energy back I cant wait to join the gym so I can work out and help my body transform.

I am really tired and feel sickly but I guess that it's normal considering I have only been taking in a small amount of calories. I hope it gets better.

If you read my blog and find me interesting or just want to reply with any hints or suggestions, I would love to hear from you.
