Eliptical exercise

Hi all, HELP!I am looking to buy an eliptical machine but there is so much out there and big price range I am lost.
Have you purchased one, what did you buy, what did you think the most important feature is? How happy were you with the results of using the machine? I have been told it is easy on the knee's and gives a whole body work out as oposed to walking.
The prices are from $200-$1500+. Don't have much to spend, so really want to get the most for my money.
