210.5!!

Nov 09, 2007

So I just stepped on the scale a few minutes ago & it said 210.5 that's a loss of 44.5lbs! Only 10.5lbs till I'm in onerland.. Wooohooo...

2mths Post-op!!

Nov 05, 2007

Well I thought I would be so much better at posting on here, so I need to try to start getting better.. I've just been a huge computer slacker these last couple of weeks..

As for weight loss, Im down 42lbs in 2mths!! Yeah for me.. I'm so glad I had this surgery.  Every once & awhile  I hit a stall, but I remember that I could never had lost any weight without the help of my little tool..  I posted new pic's so check them out..

For eating & Protein.. I've been doing pretty good. I've been getting all my water in except on Surgery days, where I'm scrubbed in & I can't drink.  Eating wise, the only thing I've really had any problems with is red meat.  I think it's just so hard to digest that it gives me the foamies & comes right back up a few minutes later. I've been doing a lot of protein bars. I still haven't been able to find a shake that I can drink on a regular basis & we haven't had the money for me to buy the expensive designer type.  I've been drinking a lot of milk. I love it now, where I hated it before surgery. It's so crazy how things change.

One Month Post-op

Oct 02, 2007

I had my One Month Post-op today & everything went great! All my labs came back normal.. Yeah, so my next one will be in two months. The only problems I'm having is I get a little shaky sometimes and he said that's probably from low blood sugar, that I just need to make sure I eat something if it starts, if it doesn't help then to give them a call..  Also I've had some slight constapation, but he wants me to up my water intake & if that doesn't help after a few days start on some fiber. So I'll see how it goes..

I have officially lost 25lbs.  It slowed down between 2-4 weeks, but I think that was just my body going into starvation mode. Now the loss is starting to move again. I'm trying not to step on the scale but once a week, but right now I'm at ever few days.  I'm going to take my official one month pic's tomorrow night since then it will be 4 weeks exactly.  Everyone says they see a difference in my face, but i just don't see it yet.  So I'll see how those look tomorrow.. :)

Post-op at 10 days out.

Sep 16, 2007

Well I had my post-op today & Dr. Dolan said I'm doing great! I'm not having any problems & I've lost 19.5lbs at 10 days out! Yeah.. So I go to see him at one month out to get labs & such done. I'm off for the rest of this week & then next & go back to work on Oct. 1st.

Talked to my doc's nurse and feeling much better!

Sep 10, 2007

So I just got off the phone a few minutes ago with the nurse at my doc's clinic.. She told him everything that I was feeling and what I had been eating & he said that I'm doing great.. It's okay to not feel full or satisfied.. As long as I'm not nauseas, vomiting or having dry heaves, I'm fine.. He said I would know if my staple line had been broken.. For me to make sure I follow the diet the Nut. gave me & I would be okay.. I also scheduled my post-op for next Monday at 10am. So I'm looking forward to that..:)

A little worried...

Sep 10, 2007

I posted this on a few of the boards that I frequent:

I know I just posted my long story about how everything has been going.. But I’m just wondering how much everyone is/was able to eat a few days post op.. I’m on full liquids till my post-op next Monday. This morning I was able to drink 2.5 oz of my Protein shake in about 15 minutes. I don’t know if this is too much or just right.. I still have not had a full feeling at all.. I just stop, so I don’t over do it.. I’m just so worried that I have broke my staple line from my old stomach and that’s why I’m able to drink that much.. I called my doctors nurse this morning and left a message for her to call me back so I can ask, but she still hasn’t called me back.. I know everyone is different, but I just wanted to get a ball park from everyone.. Just to take a little ease off.. Thanks for you help ahead of time..

I'm POST-OP!!!!!!

Sep 10, 2007

I showed up for surgery @ 6am on the 6th, they got me ready & wheeled me to the PACU to talk to the Anesthesia team, nurses & Dr. Dolan to sign my blood consent.

It was 8am when they took me to the OR room.. The last thing I remember was them pulling me up to the bed and seeing the scrub tech and saying hi.. lol.. I’m a scrub tech and use to work there 4 years ago, so I made sure there was a scrub that new what they were doing.. After that nothing.. I’m sure I moved myself to the bed but they gave me the happy juice..

Next thing I know, I’m back in PACU (recovery) I know I talked a little but I was so sleepy and don’t remember much, just that I talked a little.. I don’t know how long I was there.. I They pushed me through the waiting room to the elevator and up to 5A (the floor). I was still super sleepy. I got to my room at 2pm..

Once I got up there I realized how bad my left arm felt, come to find out they put a 14Gauge needle in the bend of my arm while I was asleep.. That hurt like HELL! They got it out very quick.. My back also hurt really bad, from the positioning on the bed.. My stomach wasn’t hurting at all.. It took about 2 hours for my Morphine to get hooked up and my back was hurting really bad.. Once I got it I was pushing that button every 6 minutes if I wasn’t passed out. The rest of the day is kind of fuzzy from all the pain meds.. I did walk some laps around the floor.. I think I did 5 that afternoon… I was NPO the rest of the day except some ice chips to wet my mouth..

Friday, when I woke up the techs came in did all my vitals and I got my Foley out and hep-locked my IV, so I could get up and move around more.. I told them I didn’t want the Morphine anymore, it made me so sleepy… I was so happy to hear that I could take a shower.. After my shower I did 10 laps around the floor.. I was actually feeling really good.. After that I took a little nap.. They put me on Liquid Loratab, which made me really sleepy to, so I didn’t take much of that.. The rest of the day consisted of small naps and more walking.. My back was still hurting.. That was my biggest complaint my whole stay in the hospital.. Friday I got put on clear liquids till the next mornings breakfast..

Saturday I woke up had my clear liquid breakfast.. I was so ready to go home, the bed is what I think continued to hurt my back through my whole stay. The resident came in to check on me, I told him that I wanted to get off the Loratab, so I wouldn’t be so sleepy and get up & move around… I felt so much better on the Liquid Tylenol. I did some more walking that morning and took another shower. I found out that Dr. Dolan was going to be coming around at 12:30pm to check on me after my full liquid diet to see how I handled it.. I got my lunch, Carnation Instant Breakfast & Crystal Light.. I did really well with it.. Dr. Dolan came around at 12pm and said I was doing great & he was going to discharge me. I was so happy & ready to go home to my own bed. I was out of the hospital by 1:30pm..

Once I was at home I laid down for a nap cause I was a little tired. When I woke up I got to see Lucas for the first time since Wednesday night.. We were both so excited about seeing each other.. The rest of the weekend has been small naps and just getting up and moving around.. I think I’ve been doing really well for just having surgery less than a week ago.. My stomach is a little achy, but I think most of that is from some gas pains & from one of the incisions that my doctor said was the camera port, so that was moved around more that the others and that’s probably why it’s still hurting..

Monday morning I woke up at 8:30, I took a shower and then Lucas, Rick & my Mom all got up at 9am. I was able to drink 2.5 ounces of my protein shake in about 15 minutes, taking small sips at a time.. I still haven’t had a full feeling yet. That’s the only thing that kind of worries me.. I hope that I’m not taking too much in.. We all took Lucas to daycare this morning & that wore me out.. We came back home I had about 3 table spoons of SF pudding, and about 30 minutes later started sipping on some Morning Spark SF Cranberry juice (it’s like the Crystal light, but has a very small amount of caffeine in it), so that’s helping with my caffeine withdrawals.. They aren’t bad, but I was starting to get a little shaky this morning.. I think we are going to go to Wal-Mart this afternoon to pick up some stuff for everyone else.. So that’s been my last couple of days since my surgery.. Thanks to anyone who made it all the way through my long storey..

Tomorrow's the big day!

Sep 05, 2007

Well tomorrow's the day.. I have to be there at 6am and I'm the 2nd case to go.. I'm super excited and a little nervious all at the same time.. I'm just ready for it to be over and be back home in my bed recovering. I've done so much laundry in the past 4 days just to make sure that we have enough clothes.. My Mom flew in last night and is going to be here for 2 weeks after my surgery to help me and Rick out with Lucas... I'm so ready to be on the looser's bench.. Move over! :)

I have my date!!!!

Aug 27, 2007

I have a date and it is.... drum roll please..... next Thursday September 6th!!!! I'm so excited and it's all of a sudden.. The nurse called me today to set up my pre-op appts for next Wednesday and said that I would get my date then.. Then about an hour later she calls me back and she didn't know that Dr. Dolan had already scheduled me to go to the O.R. next Thursday and would that be a problem.. I just had to call Rick & my mom to see if all was well.. We got a ticket for my mom and she'll be here next Tuesday night.. So all is a go... I'm so happy right now.. I've been working on this for over a year! Wish me luck.. :)

Hoping to have surgery the week of Sept 10th!

Aug 21, 2007

Well over this last weekend I starting thinking about when would be the best time for surgery.. I found out at the end of last week that there is a manditory class that everyone has to go to on Oct 5th and if I have my surgery the week of Sept 10th then I should be about 3-4 weeks post-op by then and plus the week after that the O.R. is shuttdown here at work so that would give me more time without having to go up and stand on my feet all day in surgery.

So I called Ilene at Dr.Dolan's office and talked to her and explained my situation and she said she had to talk to him that afternoon about scheduling anyway and she would bring it up to him and see what he says.  She didn't say when or if she would get back to me but I'm hoping it's soon since I've got to start planning here at work and also my mom is wanting to come down for my surgery and to help out for my recovery. She has to get a plane ticket and the longer we wait the more expensive it will get.  If I don't hear back from her by Thursday then I'm going to call her back and see if she found anything out. So I'm still just waiting.....
