Thanks for visiting my profile and welcome to my journey. My name is April and I am 25 years old. I have been married for almost 3 years and my husband and I have a 19 month old baby girl. I started out in life as an obese child and an obese adolescent, when I was 15 I finally "thinned out" like my pediatrician said I would. By the way, I am 5'9". Anyway I got down to 170 from about 225, this was in 1996. I stayed that way for a long time and joined the Navy in 2001 and I did well, I got out in 2004 and weighed 185. From December of 2004 and fast forward to now has been a steady climb in my weight my highest of 302 but I now weigh 286. I have no one to blame for myself, not pregnancy, not baby weight, but me.
So here I am today January 1, 2007 and my only resolution for this year and every year to follow is to make my life better each day. I have many areas to work on but my focus here is my weight. I hope to have WLS in February 2007 after graduating from nursing school. This is why I am here, for the support of those who have already accomplished their weight loss goals and those like me who are still trying. I want to lose this weight to be healthy, not only for me but for me family. I think it would be selfish of me to say that this is only for me, this is so I can play with my daughter, be her example and at least from a health standpoint be able to stick around, this is for my husband so that we can enjoy each other, so that we can enjoy all the activities I wish we could do but won;t because I feel Im to fat and don't want to be embarassed. Finally, I want to do it for the people who will be in my care when I am a nurse. How can I promote healthful living and weight management when I can't do it myself.
Welcome, and please feel free to add me to your friends, and can use all the support I can get.
