my magic nuber is....

I've seen Dr. Dyer at least 4 times since Mid-June and we had never discussed my "goal" weight. I had gone ahead and set a goal weight for myself and had decided upon 160 pounds. I don't remember ever seeing 160 pounds, even though I know I had to have seen it at some point because of where I am now. But lets say the last time I saw 160 pounds was probabl around 5th grade. So on my last visit with Dr. Dyer I asked him what my goal weight was. I have to say I felt a little vain asking him, because my main concern is getting my diabetes under control. He said that for my height my goal weight is right around 140 pounds. I think my jaw hit the floor. I can't imagine myself being 140 pounds. Then I felt slightly better when he said that he didn't think that my body could tolerate 140 pounds and he said that 160 would be a good weight for me. I immediately got excited because for once in my life my doctor and I have a common goal. I can imagine 160 pounds, I can do that. 140? not so much, but at least 160 is a number I can grasp, and by the looks of the girls here in my office who all weigh about that much I will be more than happy at 160. So only 95 more pounds to go and I'll be at my goal.
