Seeing the Psychologist

Jun 09, 2008

My 3 month visit with Dr Calhoun is Wed.  I am kinda looking forward to it.  I had to go to my lung Dr last Wed and he weighed me.  I didn't want to look, but he was so excited that I did.  I weigh.....drum roll.   197  I am under 200  yippie!  I will see Dr Bour on 6-20 so I hope to be at least down to 192.   I am not going to get on the scales when I see Dr Calhoun.   I think I do better if I don't,  because then I want to get on them everyday and I know that my weight will go back and forth for a few day cause of water gain.   I had another breathing attack over the weekend but it was because it was so hot, so I am trying to stay in for a few days.  We reached 100 yesterday. today it's 97 at 2:30pm.   Well enough for now ,,,,, I'll let you know how my Psyc visit turns out....later

Camping Trip

May 27, 2008

My DH went camping from May 17 -May 23, boy did I have fun,  the pollen didn't bother me at all,  I was able to help him put up the tents (yes tents) Roughing it...lol....and set up the camp site.  It felt good to do some work for a change.  We went to Lake Hartwell,  we didn't catch any fish, but had fun trying.  We went to the Dam and it has 2 flight of stairs straight up, and I made it up with out stopping.  And it was worth it   The View was Beautiful.   I walked so much,    Then we got home on Friday all the un packing and my DH was so proud that I could help him,  I use to have to just supervise  lol,  now I can supervise and do some of it my self.   We did yard work on Sat.  I enjoyed it so much.   limbing up trees and cutting shrub.   I love the out doors.  I have been losing a few pounds but it's been real slow, so I'm not going to weigh again until I go for my 3 month check up on June 20.  I have hid my scales (well DH did).    I am loving my  new life.   I am so thankful for Dr Bour's program.   The education was the best part.   Now, I know what my body needs.  Well later..........Get Out and Enjoy the Great Weather.......

Pollen

May 01, 2008

Boy the pollen is terrible the last few days, I can hardly breathe,  trying to stay in doors.  but the sinus drainage is making me quizzy.  All the allergy meds are making me want to sleep.  I went to my Family Dr Wed and weighed 209 so that makes it 91.5 pounds that I have lost since the end of Aug 07.  So I am almost at the 100 pounds gone for ever goal.  Other than the throwing up (due to the sinus drainage) I feel so much better.  I put on a jogging suit yesterday and it was a 16/18.   boy that is better than the 28/30 I was wearing.  I seem to be losing more inches than pounds.  I have about 85 pounds to go to reach my goal.  Dr Bour hasn't set a goal yet.  But I'd like to weigh about 118  that's what I weighed after my 3rd baby was born.  I have been down to 103 but that was to thin.  But for now I'm setting 10 - 15 pound goals it makes it more reachable.   .    Well until later

Solid Foods

Apr 23, 2008

I'm so glad to get to solid foods.  Still limited on what I can have.  But getting better.  In about 2 weeks I'll get solid stage 2.   When I got home I ate some baked chicken  and I enjoyed chewing.........and  my hubby was asking me how long was I gonna chew it.    lol.......but it sure taste better this way than all ground up and pureed.  But today I waited too long to eat and I ate too quickly and boy did it hurt.   I felt all tight in my chest and next thing I know It came back up.  so I just drank some water to help it come back up easier.  and waited a hour and tried it some baked fish and ate slower and that was better.  So If you are starting real food,   EAT SLOWLY!!!!!!!  And Chew Chew Chew....later

1 Month Check Up

Apr 18, 2008

Dr B said I was doing good.  My drain still hasn't quite healed up good.  I'm down to 215.  He wants me to lose at least 3 pounds a week.  I have already lost 38% of my excess weight.  Before and After surgery.  My BMI is down to 39.3 from 54.9 ..Now I'm only Obese.   Later

Pureed Foods

Apr 08, 2008

Well, I started on Pureed Foods yesterday and it was wonderful, first thing I made was:  Baked chicken tenders and added some lite mayo, and a little pickle juice and pureed  for some chicken salad   Tasted wonderful, but the texture was strange.  But I'll make it through this.  just have to be creative!  pureed some fresh strawberries  that was great.  I'm down to 220.  It's been a long time since I weighed that.  Next goal 200.  Exercising everyday.  still at 15 -20 minutes a few tiimes a day.  adding a few minutes each day. My drain is not healing as good as it should.  No scab yet and everyone at our meeting yesterday has scabs.  It looks better today, yesterday I took the bandage off and let it get some air.  Just trying to wear loose shirts that won't rub it .   I have stopped taking my blood pressure meds.  My PCP said I didn't need it any more  Yippie!  Now I'm only on Lexapro, small amount of steriod, accolate(for the asthma) and a couple of breathing treatments a day.  My drug store bill is getting less and less.   It seems so strange not to give myself insulin shots and take a fist full of pills.  A good Strange!  I saw my grandchildren that live in Georgia this past weekend and they keep talking about how little Grammy was.  That is the best feeling when kids tell ya.  Matthew said  hey Grammy you are not as fat as you use to be.  coming from a  5 year old that is the best compliment....     I can't wait till summer so I can take all 5 of the grandkids to the water park...they all love the water just like I do....Ducks!    Well  later.....

Drain Out

Apr 02, 2008

I jus  t got my drain and staples out and boy does it feel better.  It didn't hurt just a warm feeling and instant relief.  The staples stung pretty good, but the drain was a breeze.   Everything looked good,   I'm down 7 more pounds since last week.    Puree Foods here I come......  Well, later

What a Wonderful Day

Mar 24, 2008

Today has been a great day,  It started a little explosive (If you know what I mean)  but then it got better, I drove today for the first time, went to Wally World to get bandages,  The press and seal broke me out.  It felt good to put on clothes, I've been in PJ (even walking in the yard)  I had gotten on the scales this morning and it was good news....235  a few pound less than what I was at before surgery...I was worried about all the fluid gain.  but it's gone now.  I have just been thinking how my life will change. And It's so wonderful.  Dr B   THANKS!!!   But I owe it all to the Lord,  He has given me this chance to have my life back.  And I want to make sure I live it to it's fullest.  No more whinning, sick, pity parties (what I've had for last 15 or so years)  Now it's the POSITIVE things in life.      I would like to thank all my OH Family and MY HOME Family and Dr B Family.....It's been great to have people with positive attitudes around.  If I had to give any one any advise on what to do to get prepared.   The first thing I'd say is stay positive, then tell them to get as healthy as they can before surgery,   Walk , lose 1 pound a week and get rid of soda's and love your self.   I think it makes it easier.    Well, enough of my bubbly self today....  Later
