Sepeku With A Putty Knife

Jun 01, 2005

06/02/05 - Well, I met with the original surgeon I had an appointment with, and we did NOT hit it off at all. I'd sooner commit sepeku with a putty knife than to let him operate on me. But I did find out that my preferred hospital is opening a bariatric center in the fall, so all is not lost. And it's 90% covered by insurance. I'll have a small out of pocket expense, but so far - it's a go!

Initial Consultation Scheduled

May 27, 2005

5/28/05 - Initial Consultation with Dr scheduled for June 1st. Had a follow-up appointment (on my cholesterol) with my regular Dr scheduled for June 14th - was able to move it up to the 31st of May, so I can see/consult with her before I go.

Got the initial paperwork in the mail. Will fill it out this weekend, and see about scheduling the psychiatric evaluation on Tuesday.

5/23/05 - I'm bright, lively, and single. No kids, so no-post-pregnancy weight to blame it on. Been overweight my whole life. Have tried numerous means of losing weight, none of which were really successful. I'm looking for a permanent solution instead of a constant battle I keep losing.

The closest I came to successful weight loss was on a medical fast, but my (former) insurance company kicked me off the program because they thought I was cheating (my weight loss slowed down). The fact that I was still losing weight on it was apparently irrelevant.

I'm still a little leary about the whole "we're altering your digestive system" thing, but I've known a growing number of people who have had this, and the only ones who seem unhappy with it, are the ones who aren't eating right. At this point, I'm very interested, but still undecided.

My personal interests are many & varied. I enjoy wine tasting, travelling, playing at the casinos, driving, reading, writing, singing, exploring new things. For example - I'm currently take French! Je parle francais un peu.
