12 Days away...

Jun 17, 2009

Hello every one.. Well I have 12 more days to wait till the BIG DAY!  I am excited in a way and in another way I am not.. I know I have been waiting since around Aug. 08, but it has seemed like a eternity. I  every night and day that every thing will go well.

I had to go to Dr. Nease office today for the Pre Op Class. Things went smooth.  They went over do's and don'ts. Like the things that I can have for my 2 day liquid diet. I am only allowed to have these items..
                                         Clear broth (beef, Chicken bouillon)
                                         Caffeine-free tea
                                         Water
Caffeine-free coffee (no cream)  I don't like coffee!!
                                         Popsicles
Clear juices (orange juice, apple, grape, cranberry)
                                         Jell-O
I am allowed to have sugar on these 2 days, but after surgery I am not allowed to have any more.  It also says....  (thought I would share some info.)

* Begin a clear liquid diet, drinking as much liquid as you can tolerate.

* Drinking caffeine-free and carbonation-free is recommended. Water is your best choice. You will be losing fluid, so it is very importand to drink lots of clear liquid.

* Unless you have been advised otherwise, you shoule not eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery.

When you are on this diet before surgery you are cleaning out your bowels, you lose lots of fluid that must be replaced to prevent dehydration.
There is several little things that I learn at this class today..

I also had to go over to Cabell Huntington Hospital and Pre Register.  Then the sent me up stairs and had a nurse go over all my medacines and told me what ones to and not to take the morning of the surgery.  Then I was sent across the hall and had 7 more little tubes of blood taken. My chest x-ray was good and my EKG was good from last time. They will keep those for 4 months and I had it done 2 months ago.. so I was good with that . Blood work, now that is another story, they will only use blood work if it is less than 30 days old.. So I had to redo that.
I go and see Dr., Nease on Friday after I have my ultrasound of my Gallbladder done.. I will post again after I see the Doc.  Have a good day and see you all on the loser bench!
