36 Days & Counting 'Til B-Day!

Sep 21, 2008

It seems sick to be so excited about having surgery! Somebody get the thermometer please... I am quite sure that I will be a basket case by the time B-Day arrives but that is okay with me. I am continuing to work the plan now in preparation for surgery and the weight is slowly but surely going down. I LOVE being a loser! My DH was asking me again if I was sure I wanted to have the surgery (since I am losing weight). The only answer here is definitely, how many times through out the years have I lost weight only to regain it back along with a few of it's friends! OMG, I don't want to be fighting this weight when I am on my death bed. It hurt too much to watch what my Dear Mother went through in 2003. She spent 5 months in NKC Hospital and her remaining 2 months at home and of that 7 months she never ate food again nor did she walk. She helped me to make my decision to act now! I love and miss you Mother...

37 Days & Counting 'Til B-Day!

Wow, today is another great day except I think I stayed in the bed too long. My back surely feels like it belongs to someone else not me... sucks. After about an hour of getting the bones to work with me this morning Lexi Marie (my little yellow lab) and I took our 1.2 mile walk however we were blessed with the presence of Larry (my husband of 33 years) also. Nice for a change. Of course with all the talking I could not listen to the iPod at all but I will take Larry's company any day. After we got finished I made Eggface's Banana Coconut Protein Souffle's for breakfast and we topped them with Blackberry Patch Maple Praline sugar free syrup. They were delicious just like Shelly said they would be! Off to see what is in store for the rest of the day. Later

38 Days & Counting

Sep 19, 2008

WOW, I can't believe it. I am 38 days out from my Roux-en-Y surgery. That might sound like a long time but not when you factor in the fact that I started my process on January 1, 2008. Seems like a long time ago since I quit smoking 2 packs a day in January, quit drinking 2 of the 2 liter bottles of diet pepsi daily in June, completed my 6 month physician supervised diet on July the 18th, got my insurance approval on August the 8th and had my first meeting with my surgeon September the 8th!  I am still totally excited and looking for a great future. Since I got my approval I have lost about 20 pounds in preparation for surgery. Dr. Hoehn didn't say anything about losing but I had read enough to know it is a good idea. I plan to drop another 10 pound prior to surgery. I agreed with myself to do everything in my power to make this an easy journey which included the weight loss and excercise. Yesterday I made Eggface's Beef & Black Bean Stew and her Banana Coconut Protein Souffle and let me say they are both extremely delicous. Even my picky - skinny husband enjoyed them. I have read enough books, magazines and Eggface's blog that I really feel READY. There are really a ton of helpful tools out there if you just take the time to find them. I have my recipes, the pantry is stocked, kitchen supplies in place, WLS magazine and 4 additional books that were great reads with helpful information. My surgery is scheduled for October 27th at 10AM. It will be here before I know it. My mind continues to race daily on the various aspects of change coming my way.
