It has been one month (tomorrow) since I had surgery.  I feel great.  I'm back to work and school with no problems...well unless Sociology counts as a problem!!  The scale didn't move for about 10 days.  It was stuck at 321 but today it's at 318.5 which thrills me.  I took my one month photos but I'm not sure that I can really see a difference, maybe next month.
I have been eating somewhat normal meals, but I still haven't tried regular meat like grilled chicken or grilled pork.  I'm still a little afraid it will sit heavy and I won't feel very good.  I ended up eating too much and threw up for the first time yesterday.  I had a tortilla with PB&J and a glass of milk.  I finished it and just felt full.  After about 15-20 minutes I was wishing I would get sick.  I finally did and felt better instantly.  It's weird because I have eaten that before with no problems.  One thing that I did notice is that I had a bad taste in my mouth for hours afterwards.  I drank water and brushed my teeth about three times and still had a nasty taste that I couldn't get rid of.  YUCK!  It finally went away after I ate again.
I'm still trying to learn how my stomach feels when I am full.  I eat but usually end up with a feeling like I swallowed a brick.  I'm not sure if that means I am eating too much or if that's the feeling I'm going to have.  If I eat smaller meals I seem to get hungry a short time later, or at least I think I'm hungry.  It might just be my head.  Anyway I'm still learning.  So that's it for now.  Hopefully the scale keeps moving in the right direction.

Well I am now 2 weeks post -op.  I am still not eating or drinking nearly enough.  I am eating about 1 cup of food a day and drinking about 4-5 cups of water.  I am trying to remember my vitamins but that doesn't go well either.  I am still amazed at how little I eat...for dinner it was about 1/4 cup Swedish meatballs chopped up, I couldn't take another bite.  I'm not losing like I thought I would either.  I'm down to 324.5.  I think my problem with that is I'm hardly eating.  I bet if I increase my food intake I would see the scale move faster.  Once I get back to work I think things will be easier.  My day won't consist of sitting on the couch doing homework and playing on the computer.  I still can't find a protein supplement that I can drink...I don't like smoothies something about the consistency just grosses me out.  I just saw a post about a liquid protein that can be added to crystal lite, 15g of protein per 1 oz.  I may have to give that a try.  I have increased the amount of fluid I've been drinking thanks to Lipton's cold brew tea bags.  It's been hard giving up pop, I can't drink watered down juice to quench my thirst, and it just doesn't do it for me.  And water loses its appeal quick.  Iced tea has been a wonderful change.

I don't get much pain when I eat anymore.  I am getting a full feeling though.  After I eat I feel like the food is stuck at the bottom of my throat.  It's not uncomfortable, just annoying.  I'm not sure if it's the foods I'm eating or if I'm eating too much at one time.  I'm still trying to figure out the new feelings.

My incisions have healed pretty well.  The 3 along my waistline are all closed and look good.  The two on the upper part of my stomach are very red and seemed a little infected.  I cleaned them and applied antibiotic to them.  They look much better.  I'll keep an eye on them and call my doctor if they don't heal up soon.

I go back to work in 2 days.  I'm kind of looking forward to it, but I know the reality of it will hit me after a few days.  I don't dislike my work but everyone loves time off...I've had 3 weeks.  My only concern is wearing jeans or work pants.  The incisions on my stomach, even though they appear healed, are still a little tender and they're located right where my pants sit.  I'm afraid my jeans will be too tight and cause pain or discomfort.  I have a pair that are a little too big, I'll just have to keep washing those and wearing the same pair over and over until the others loosen up.  I can't bear to go buy another pair just to be out of them in a month.
Well that's all I have for now.

Well I am one week out from surgery.  Things are going good.  I have terrible bruising from the incisions but overall I don't have much pain.  Since being released from the hospital I think I have taken pain medicine 6-7 times.  The incisions are small except for one along my waistline where my stomach was removed, it's about an inch long maybe a little bigger.

Eating...Well I really don't have a taste for anything...nothing seems to appeal to me.  I have tried different kinds of soup and mainly rely on broths from prepared soup.  I have eaten Coco Wheats a couple times too.  I can eat only a small amount, maybe a cup at a time.  I do get pain when swallowing, my stomach gurgles from right to left then I get pain that moves up toward my sternum.  Dr.Pleatman said that was from inflamation and will pass.  I am getting somewhat brave with eating...I am concerned that I am not eating enough of anything, I can't seem to eat more than once or twice a day and I'm not getting nearly enough water or protein in.  So I took a bite of ground ham salad...I chewed and swallowed without pain.  Go figure, it hurts to swallow soup broth but a taste of real food goes down fine.  I ended up eating a tablespoon of it, not a bit of pain.  Since then I have taken small bites of protein rich foods like ground chicken salad...Scrambled Eggs...Egg Salad.  Not the healthiest foods but I am happy to be able to eat without pain.  Drinking still causes the pain....I have tried small swallows, letting the fluid roll to the back of my throat then swallowing, I even tried to sip a small sip from a (GASP) straw...still get the pain, although it's getting less frequent, every few swallows instead of each one.

I don't know if I've lost any weight.  I went on a diet pre-op and had lost 9 lbs as of Jan 3rd but about 2 weeks before surgery I just started eating whatever I wanted.  I'm sure I put on weight prior to surgery but I haven't weighed myself since the 3rd to know what I was at the time of surgery.  I did weigh in at the doctors office post op and was down 3lbs from Jan 3rd.  So that would make it 12lbs total.

Well that's it for now, I am enjoying my time off of work and relaxing...I will be heading back on Feb 5th without work restrictions.
