My first fill

Dec 28, 2007

I had my first fill yesterday, and it was not bad at all. I still could not tell if I had lost any weight other than what I lost pre and post op. But I got a 1cc fill. The worst part was that the PA could not find the right place to fill and he asked me to lift my legs like I was doing a leg lift exercise. Now who in the heck can do that weighing almost 280 lbs, so I tried to do the best I could and he still did not get the needle right. Dr. Antonetti came in, put his gloves on and asked me to do the leg and head lift, yeah right, then he said I would feel some pressure on my stomach. Within a few seconds it was done. I got a bandage and instructions for the next six days. The kicker is when I went to pay, the girl said that will be $200 and you have a balance of $177. I said I have been over this with your office manager and my insurance company for the last 2-3 weeks, my insurance will pay for my fills, now I will pay you my
$15 co-pay and work on paying the balance. Anyway, more than that was said, but bottom line I gave her a $15 check told her to talk to her office manager and walked out.

Best Christmas in a long time

Dec 26, 2007

Yesterday was so wonderfu. We had family at my Daughter Nikki's house. We had prepared everything over the past week so everything would be perfect. Of course, we had a few hitches. We bar-b-cue'd out in her back yard. Someone stole the large garbage can on wheels we put back there for trash (thieves). Any who, we had lots of family and friends that traveled over to Effingham, SC for Christmas. Most were family or family by association. We had a great time. For the first holiday in a long time, I did not eat until I was stuffed, I felt great. Family that had not seen me in a while noticed the few pounds that I've lost. I have not weighed today, but I will maybe later on before I leave work. My first fill is tomorrow around 3:00 pm. I will leave work at 12: 00 to give me plenty of time to be there, as it is a little over an hour away. I hope this fill goes well. I will not be able to stand any vomiting, I feel like I am literally dying when I get nauseated.

1 month 12 days post op

Dec 18, 2007

I weighed today, and I think I'm down to 278 post op from about 290 something pre op. Is that good? I don't know, I need to exercise even if it is just walking behind the agency's test plots in the back everyday. I think I will be more successful if I did that. I will go for my first fill on the 27th of this month. I am really afraid of this as I don't really know what to expect. I've heard so many things from different ones that I am kind of confused. It seems that the experiences are as varied as the folks who went through them, so I'll have to wait and see what mine will be. I'm a big chicken so I know I will be scared up until that day. I have to work that day and my appt is at 3:00, so I want to leave here around 1:00 to give myself enough time to get there early enough not to rushed. This has been a long hard fight for me, but I think it was worth it and I don't have that many battle scars, so all is good. Talk at you later.

feeling better today

Dec 14, 2007

I'm feeling a little better today. After I ranted and raved at Riverside Surgical they called me back and said yes Ms. Nixon your fills are covered by your insurance. "well duhhh, I been trying to tell you all that for 2 weeks now. However, they did not have an appt in Dec while my deductible is met. So they gave me a Jan appt. then they call me back and gave me an appt for Dec 27th. I am really not happy with those folks at all. On top of that, I'm afraid that this clown of a PA they have there will goof off and have me where I can't even drink water. If that happens, what will I do. I live an hour or so away from West Columbia and can't just drive across town if something is wrong. Some of the patient who have had fills by the PA said he might have a little "attudinal" problem. Well I've been know to straighten a few of those out over the years. So maybe he is next on the list.

Mad as Hell with Riverside Surgical

Dec 12, 2007

I'm so upset with those women at Riverside surgical, I could spit nails. I've been on the phone with the women since last week trying to tell them that my insurance would cover my adjustment, and I wanted to do it in Dec. while I had my deductible met, but now they call me and say, Oh your insurance will pay for your adjustment up to 90%, but we don't have any more appts left for Dec. We can schedule you for the 14th of January, which my deductible will go up and will not be close to being met. I think it is just a conspiracy to get money up front. I've been telling them for 2 weeks that I was covered.

I have pics up

Dec 11, 2007

It has been one month and six days since my surgery. I am getting kind of discouraged. I don't know how much weight I've lost since my last drs. visit. I don't think I've lost any. I still see the same me in the mirror. I'm still wearing the same clothes and all. I have vowed not to buy any more until I can wear some smaller ones. I posted pictures of some of my family members, mostly grand babies. If you see two little boys that look like pictures of the same kid, it's not, those are the boys to my set of triplet grand children. there is a picture of them together in my alubm. The other one is a little girl. They are 5 years old now. They all are wearing the shirt my oldest son Jim wore when he was about 3 years old. I saved it and take pictures of every baby born in the family in it. As you can see I have a whole slew of them. I love them all.

I'm also very disappointed in my dr.'s office for not returning calls. they want me to pay for my band adjustment when my insurance covers it completly. I just don't have the money to do that with when it is covered. They won't even return my call.

4 week post op

Dec 03, 2007

I'm four weeks post op and doing great. I have not had any nausea or vomiting. I think I may have come close a few times, but I got over it. I'm tolerating food real well. I chew real well and take my time. I'm back on both my jobs and no problems. Dr's office called and wanted me to come in 12/27 for my first fill, but I told them I would not have the 200 buck to do that. To tell the truth, I don't know when I will have that much money to spare being out of work and not getting paid for two weeks. Oh well

I'm back at work

Nov 26, 2007

Hello everyone, I'm back at work three weeks post op. I feel great. The holidays were really good and every one had a great time. It was not as hard as I thought it would be, cause I felt full all the time, and I got my liquids in too. My surgery went great except for the nasty side effects of that anesthesia. My head started shaking and I could not get it to stop. they finally had to give me some type of drug to make it stop. My neck muscles were very sore from the shaking. Boy that was an experience. Other than that It was any amazing experience. I could not tell I had had anything done except for the surgery scars. After the surgery I thought what have I done to myself. But when I went back a week later and had lost 12 lbs, I felt really great. I still can't tell that I've lost any weight by my clothes, could it be that they were too small in the beginning, humm, I wonder. I still have some discomfort around the site where the fill port is. It kind of hurts when I sit or when I walk, but it is getting better. Back at work today and my desk is full, my email is full and folks are coming in left and right. Talk to you later.

Tomorrow is my day

Nov 05, 2007

Tomorrow at this time, I will have had my surgery and will be up walking around if all goes well, and I pray that it will. I'm a little scared more so of how I will come out of the anesthesia. I always have trouble coming out of that. I get nauseated and throw up something fierce. I have to be at the hospital about 6:45am and my surgery is scheduled for 8:30. The drive is about an hour from my house and I want to leave home around 5:00 am because I don't know what the traffic will be like up that way at time in the AM. My youngest kids are going with me and will be there until they know I'm OK. I should stay in the hospital over night and go home Wednesday. I'm praying all will go well and the next time I talk with you all I will be an official BANDSTER! I'M SO EXCITED TO BE GOING TO THE LOSERS BENCH!

5 days and counting

Nov 01, 2007

I have 5 more days before my surgery date. I saw Dr.
Antonetti today and went to get my post op tests done, EKG, blood work, X-rays and all. I had the DVT study done yesterday, so the only thing left for me to do is meet at the hopital on Next tuesday morning and do this. I'm feeling so excited, scared and apprehensive, I know I'm doing the right thing, but it is such a hugh step for me, but I know I will be so much better off. My youngest children will be with me. My oldest daughter has to work and my oldest son is all the way in DC working.
