Progress Update
Jul 11, 2010
Well I am plugging along. I now weight 236lbs. It does seem to get easier, but I still sometimes see my family eating hotdogs from the grill and on a bun, and think, "Man I wish I could eat that." Then I go look in the moirror and say NOOOOO. I like how I am loosing weight and people are really noticing.

Surgery finally happened.

I know I haven't updated in a while, so here is the past several months in a nut shell. I did awesome on the Liver reduction diet. I started on January 19, 2010 and weighed 319.5lbs. I had surgery on May 17, 2010 and weighed 267lbs on the day of surgery. Wow, that's 52.5 lbs lost in about 4 months. That's even before I had surgery.
Surgery went well and was released on the 4th day. Then was readmitted same afternoon with an illus (bowel obstruction). I was in the hospital a total of 11 days. It was rough during that time, but now I am 3 weeks after surgery and starting to feel a little better each day.
I currently weigh 250 lbs. I was insulin dependent and now I take NO insulin. I was on all kinds of blood pressure, cholesterol, asthma, and Insulin medicine. I am now only on 2 pills, besides my vitamins. Even with the vitamins, I take way less medicines now.
I am very upbeat and optimistic. My oldest son will be a senior in the fall and all I keep thinking is I will be thin at his graduation. I know I am in the honeymoon phase, but I hope I never lose my drive to meet my weight loss goal.
Well, I am beginning the second phase of this journey and can't wait to begin my new and improved life.

I have begun the journey to find the woman I used to be. Somewhere underneath these 319.5 lbs is the woman I used to be. When I was younger I was always thin. I wore size 1 or 3. It wasn't until I was about 22 or 23 that I began to gain wieght. People that knew me back then, talk about how little I always was and how bubbly I always seemed. What happened to that happy little person. She is still there and she can't wait to get out.
I am day 8 into my liver reduction diet and the carb headaches are killing me, but I have not cheated once. I am eating only lean meats, veggies, eggs, cheese, and 2 servings of milk a day. Not the most delicious meals, but I am trying to rethink the purpose of food. Food is now a necessity of life, not a pleasure of life. I eat it to survive not for entertainment or to make me happy.
Hopefully I will have my surgery the end of April or the begining of May. My goal is to be 150 lbs by this time next year.
Wish me luck.
