Almost 7 months out

Aug 02, 2009

Sorry it has been so long since I posted but life has really caught up with me..I had a summer class that didnt get out til July 8th and after that my kids have been wanting to hang out at the pool every day. I went to the dr this past wed for my 6 month..I know i was a few weeks late but it happens..I have lost 90 lbs..YIPPIE...he gripped at me for not working out much but with school it was hard to get to the gym when you get up at 5 am to do clinicals at the hospital and study for test..I have made a promise to get better at working out..My 17 year old daughter will make me stick to that. She has lost 30 lbs since my surgery because she doesnt want a mom smaller than her...hehehe..talk about motivation...I have went from pant size 26 to a 14 and shirt size 26 to an 18..Of coarse the one thing the hubby was worried about hasnt gotten any smaller..Im not complaining either though. I really dont want to have to have any boob work done but I also dont want saggy boobs either..I asked the dr where i should have been for being over 6 months out and he said he would have like to have seen me lose another 5-8 lbs but I was doing great..Hes talking about pumping up the workouts and in 3 months removing the excess skin in my tummy area. But i beleive ill wait til May when I get done with school and start working to have the surgery and have a complete tummy tuck instead of just skin removal. I have heard Dr Dixon talk at meetings I have been to and hes awesome so ill be seeing him for the surgery. I did take 6 month pics and will be taking 7 month ones here in a week or so. I still feel great and never regret having this surgery that has given my family a healthy mom back...

4 months

Well 4 months have come and gone..Doesnt even seem like it has been 4 months. I feel great and everyone have started commenting on how good I look. I am down 66 lbs since surgery. I am slowing down but I think it is due to the stress of finals and not eatting good. I just seem to grab and go and not really plan my meals out in advance. Also not getting to the gym to work out like I was. Finals are monday and wed so ill get back on schedule soon. I also have to start summer class on the 18th. I went out dancing with my sister, her hubby and my hubby this weekend. I actually got into my size 16 rockies and I have not worn them in 4 years...that was my WOW moment. When I had surgery i was wearing a 24 pant...So it made me feel awesome...here are some 4 month pics

I went to the dr monday and got great news. I had lost 11 lbs pre operative and lost 58 post operative. I can tell as far as how my clothes fit. I have gained so much confidence. I have put all the pics side by side showing the progress. The first is 1 week, 1 month, 2 month, 3 month. My husband took them and didnt get the same distance everytime so its a little harder to tell but it can still be seen. My clothes fit way different, I have gone down 3 sizes in jeans and 2 in shirts so far but they are already getting baggy on me. My daughter and I have a competition going on since we were told we look like sisters. She is 17 and it was a blow to her ego. She and I have been in the gym everyday this past week. She has prom coming up and doesnt want her mom to be skinnier than her she says. I want to be a good role model for her but how do I not let her down? I dont want her to think it is all about being skinny. I want her to realize it is about being healthy. She just like I have struggled with her weight since she was little. We have always looked to food for comfort and now that I cant and dont do that anymore she still struggles. ALONE. It is hard for me to see her hurt due to being fluffy. She by no means is obese but  is a little overweight. She is 17 and 5'11 and weighs 210 lbs. I tell her for her height she could stand to lose about 30 lbs and I told her watching what she eats and working out she can do it. Well i guess that is enough rambling about weight I need to get to class.Hope everyone has a great day.

Well i have hit the 50 lb lost mark in 2 months. Sorry its been a while since I posted but with clinicals and careplans and classes my time is consumed and free time is thin. I feel great. I am able to eat a little more variety but eggs still dont agree with me. I still get sick from eatting to fast  and I am working on that. I have an appointment with warnock on the 6th of april and I hope to continue to do wonderful til then so he will be proud of me. He is a wonderful doctor that has given me my life back. He is truly and angel.

4 weeks post op

Feb 08, 2009

Sorry I havent been updating like i planned to but school is whipping my butt. I have 3 classes that are all very demanding of my time on top of my family. But clinicals this far have been cool. I have gotten to go into surgery for a full day and the endo lab (colonoscopy's and EGD's) for a full day. It was awesome. I still have L/D to go this semester.

On to WLS i called Warnocks office friday for my routine report to him and he told me basically I could have whatever I wanted besides steak, roast, or pasta that I could tolerate. So we went and had shrimp. I kept it down but it made my tummy hurt all night. I have tolerated yogurt, beans, potatoes, blended soups, crackers, and ground beef so far but i am getting burned out and want to eat fruits and veggies. I tried some squash, carrots, and green bean mixture i found last night and oh my gosh it was good but a few minutes later i was vomitting it back up. I have been loyal to the vitamins though. that part is easy its just the food and knowing what will work and what wont. I sure dont want to be in clinicals trying new things and getting sick. Besides the vitamins the protein is coming easy for me too. I found isopure drinks (40 g of protein) work well for me the grape and orange are my favorite. I have a EAS choc shake at breakfast (25 grams of protein) then the isopure after lunch and another EAS about 8. totaling 90 grams of protein a day.

2 weeks post op

Jan 25, 2009

I know I am a few days late but with school it has made it hard to get on here. As of thursday my 2 weeks post op I have lost another 5lbs. For a total of 29 lbs. I am so excited.I talked to the doctor thursday and he said I can try moist chicken or taco meat. So I had a little taco meat in some refried beans and it was such a change from the mash potatoes I had been eatting. I still have a hard time with getting my vitamins down. I chose the pill form and now I am regretting it. I have been to the store and I think I am going to find some chewable or liquid since my stomach isnt big enough for 5 pills in the morning and the 5 in the evening. I only take 2 at lunch and that I can handle. But I am also afraid of the taste of the chewable or liquid so I dont know what to do. If anyone has suggestions please message me.

School is keeping me quite busy in fact I start my clinicals on Feb 5th in surgery and April 5th in Labor and delivery..I am so excited to see how my scrubs are going to keep getting bigger and bigger ..Guess Ill have to go shopping..well I just wanted to update my profile.I have to get back to homework for class tuesday..

Day 9

Jan 16, 2009

I still have a lot of swelling but I guess that is to be expected ..hello i was cut open...I feel great matter of fact I went out yesterday and walked a little in the mall and took the hubby lunch..I had mash potatoes and OMG i was full on bite 5. I had a parent meeting at my youngest school and went to Barnes and Noble with my hubby and the store...I didnt even get tired...That is a great sign. Last night I found something that I cant tolerate..Pears in light syrup I drained the syrup and rinsed them with water and drained...Still after eatting the fruit cup my stomach started cramping and I went in the restroom and got rid of them. I was worried about the first time i ran across that but it was nothing at all to worry about...I just know no pears for me and my new tummy...I guess the pears themselves were toooooo sweet for me...Class starts Tuesday and I am ready. Hope some swelling goes down so I can have something to wear to class...
